When FGU releases (or sometime after) will we be able to embed imaged into Text windows rather than link?
So we can do stuff like this

It isnt a big thing but it does make things look ALOT nicer

Perhaps the images are thumbnails that are links too. So if there is an image of a Letter from an NPC we can drag
that Letter to a player in the party?

I've been told before this won't be in on the release of FGU. I'm hoping it is a long term goal tho.

For the most part, FGU will not be changing the UI. You can see the KS FAQ or the FGU FAQ on the site here for more details. But in general the goals of FGU are to change the engine that FG runs on. FGU also has stated that it will be changing the networking architecture and the image controls. But other than that, expect everything to be (on the surface) exactly what you see today.

Now, one of the benefits of the new engine is it gives SmiteWorks the ability to do a lot of new things easier than they could do with the current/classic engine.

If you want something new, put it in the wishlist (https://fg2app.idea.informer.com/)(or vote on it if it is already there).

Yep, however if Moon or someone is currently working on something related; by mentioning this perhaps It may cause Moon (or whoever) to think actually think "as long as I'm here, I may put a couple of place holder functions in" (commented out for now) to use 3 years from now.

That way in 3 years (or whenever) they dont have to rewrite the entire section

Best time to start the ground work is now while things are fresh in the programmers head not in 3 years when the programmer looks at a comment "NOTE: VRegTX is negtive on on a SAVE" and think to themselves "....what the hell did I mean by that???"

Well, not to be too technical, but an image on a story page IS an image control. It is not out of the box to ask it to be included....

Including images in a story would be done in the ruleset, the same as they are done now in reference pages. So not really anything which would be specific to FGU. Embedding images in a story is a lot more complicated since apart from anything else stories can be edited.

Forget the story example. An image in any window IS an image control. And even for the story example so what if a story can be edited? We know FGU will have image edit capabilities.

It also has been said that in the beginning FGU wont look at that different from Classic FG. Well its it's an easy enough thing to do WITHOUT adding to the time to release. Id strongly recommending doing this.

ATM for the average punter who doesn't know 32bit from 64bit from 128bit and the like; will look at FGU and ask why? Why am I gonna fork out extra cash for this when Im not getting anything else? Ive already got this?

Whilst there will be very little ruleset changes in FGU there’s an awful lot of other stuff coming in. If the LOS and map building tools don’t attract them in then seeing a picture on a story isn’t going to help.

For me stories are functional things that I use to run the game along with the map. I don’t need them to be pretty. The reference section I need to be pretty so it reads nice.

You can do that now. This is not what you’ve been asking - which is images in story entries (formatted text controls). This is an image control within a window - which is different.

Yeah, what you’re asking would be a nice to have. But, as people have been trying to tell you - it is *not* an easy thing to do.

We are talking about that. But it is purely a user request, not a specific feature that will definitely be in FGU.

Yes, the kickstarter was a great success, and I am pleased too see Smiteworks getting recognition they deserve.
However having a look at the numbers (with some big assumptions) The number of members of this forum is 146,919 if we assume that only a 1/8 of these are active (why a eighth? No idea)
This is 18364 (this doesnt take into account people who got thier licences on steam and have never been here of course).
There were 8,520 backers. So about 46% of people went for the kickstarter?
There numbers are VERY subjective. But I feel with a little more "eye candy" FGU may get even more.
I mean think how much money Wizards of the Coast (D&D) could save if they fired all their artists and took all the pictures out of their books! Are they going to do this?

Yeah the story entries was as way of an example (and probably the feature would be used mostly here) But yes you right the character sheet isn't a text window
However the point Im trying to make is Images in various areas would help to give the vtt a little more ZING!

I am not asking for it now but just that as people work on the code they keep the wishlist Idea (and other popular ones) in the back of their heads and perhaps
throw a function or procedure in with comments within the function that lists other functions,procedures, variables that maybe helpful later while it fresh in the coder's head (the function or procedure just returns nothing of course doing nothing For now).

Yeah this is just kicking ideas around Patou (still would be cool)

You can look ward to FGU being alot faster and more stable tho! As it will be true 64bit! Sweet!

So, is your request, or something similar, actually in the wishlist? If so, please provide a link to it so people who are interested in that functionality can vote for it.
