Morning all!
First off, I was curious what exactly does a FG subscription entail? Does it just cover access to the software or does it give any extra benefits over a one time license?
KS bonus question: If I pledge for a non-Ultimate license now, will there be an upgrade option available to get Ultimate after it releases?
Non-KS extra bonus question: If I buy a standard license now for the current FG, is there an upgrade option available to get to current FG Ultimate later without having to buy a full price Ultimate license?
Thanks.

A subscription doesn't give any additional benefits over a one time license.

I'm sure the same options available now (FGC standard to ultimate upgrade, for example) will be available for FGU once it is generally available.

Use the FG Classic standard to ultimate upgrade - details here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/store/product.php?id=SWK03UPGRADE

There is no extra benefit of a subscription over buying outright. It just allows people another purchase option.
Yes, the upgrade options will be available after the KS just like they are now. Obviously the price will be different from the KS prices.
Yes, you can buy a Standard license and then upgrade to Ultimate later. The Ultimate upgrade is approximately the difference between the full cost of the ultimate license less the Standard license.
Note that whatever way you do it there will be an upgrade cost from FG Classic to FG Unity.
What about upgrading from FG Classic Ultimate to FG Unity Ultimate, after the KS ends?

Expect it to be more expensive than purchasing via the KS and maybe even "full price". I tihnk the last I heard Doug say on the subject it that they haven't decided yet.

Alright, thanks for all the info folks. That gives me what I need to know to make a plan of attack.

Up to now I have been doing the $10 a month subscription to FG, and that gives me full Ultimate licence ( my players are playing on the free demo ) works great. After December this will all change for me as I pledged for a full ultimate licence.

Hmmm, suddenly had another query in the subscription vein. If you subscribe to the program under any tier and decide you wanted extra modules / rules etc, would they be part of the subscription ( like Netflix or Game Pass) or would you have to purchase them to use them in your subscription?

Only the license has a subscription option. Everything else is a one off payment, which means all DLC is purchased outright.

Their is some sort of payment plan link on the FG Store. I think it's handled through PayPal, but not sure...

I used subscription for the last few months because I was unsure if Fantasy Grounds was going to be a long term thing for me.
I was about to make the decision to pay full price when FGU was announced, so... I just pledged for a full licence of FGU, and will continue my subscription to FG until then.

The business case break-even is 4 1/2 months... or:
monthly 9.99 (FGC Ultimate sub.) + 135 for FGU Ultimate against
149 (FGC Ultimate) + 30 for FGU Ultimate Rookie upgrade
So, if you know you use it, and the FGU release will be in December, you would fare better with the second option IMHO.

I know this sounds terrible, but money is not really an issue. I have subscribed for $10 a month for a while now.
I like subscribing to give continued support. But want in on the beta of FGU so purchased that
