View Full Version : Help with an effect syntax

According to the Wiki if I want to do different damage to a TYPE of creature then I should do the following syntax. Yet, it doesn't work and creatures other than those listed still take the full damage.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Booker.

Looks like you have a colon (:) after the first slashing instead of a semi colon (;). Not absolutely sure since that font isn't easy to read.

So DMG:1d6, slashing; IFT: TYPE(undead etc); 16, slashing

Thanks,

But that adds 16 to the initial 1d6 if they are undead. What I want is if the creature is undead then the max 16 damage is applied instead.
If they are not undead it just adds the standard 1d6.

You can't do that - there's no do this or do that in conditional effects. Anything before a conditional effect (IF or IFT) is always active, anything after a conditional effect (this could be multiple effects) should only activate if the conditional effect is matched. See the details here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_Effects#A_Note_on_IF_and_IFT
