Hey! I'm new to FantasyGrounds (fresh off the roll20 boat).

I typically play 3.5 or pathfinder but I've been learning 5e. (Ulgh its a bit of a pain even if everyone says it is supposed to be easier????? XD )

If you have any advice about the site for a noob I'd appreciate it - otherwise just saying hi!

Welcome to the forums and FG Community! I'd suggest signing up for a few free classes at Fantasy Grounds College (https://www.fantasygroundscollege.net/).

Hello and welcome. Also this weekend is FG-Con, the 3 day online gaming convention with Fantasy Grounds. A number of seats are available in different rule sets, FG-Con GM's are always newbie friendly, and it is a good opportunity to meet GM's and players. Free to sign up and play, details are on the site.

Welcome to Fantasy Grounds. Take a look around, if you have any questions, please ask here. This is a great community that has always been super helpful. It can seem overwhelming at first, the software is capable of so much. There are tons of youtube videos and helpful tutorials linked here in the forums. If you want more direct help, check out the Fantasy Grounds college that Nylanfs posted. Its a group run by community members to help teach people how to use the software and get started. Great bunch of people there too.

Thats such good luck! I'll be sure to try and join in as much as I can! That sounds like a great opportunity! Thank you for the heads up :)

Also be sure to join the Fantasy Grounds Discord (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/home/Discord.php) server!

I'll be sure to do so! Getting involved in the community will be really cool. Its so hard to find serious players locally - thats why my group switched to Fantasy Grounds

Thanks! (I've been saying thank you so much today lol!)
I'm really excited to be on the site and can't wait to explore a little more - but everyone's response so far has definitely been a huge help in pointing me in the right direction for how to get started. :)

Welcome to fantasygrounds. It is an inclusive welcoming community where you can reach both positive players and even the company owners for help with specific problems. I have yet to see a hobby community so inclusive and speedily responsive as this one. Wish you luck and fun on many games.

Hi DungeoneeringGoddess, and Welcome! to the Community,

If you haven't done so already, let me encourage you to take a look at some of the great Tutorial Videos available on the Fantasy Grounds Wiki (and on YouTube). Damn's are good, as are Xorn's, and people seem to like mine as well (mine are also available from the links in my sig, below).

Start with the ones on the CoreRPG, because the CoreRPG forms the foundation of just about all the RPGs we play with Fantasy Grounds - so by learning how to use FG with the CoreRPG you'll learn about 80% of what you'll need to know to play any RPG with Fantasy Grounds. Once you've gone through the CoreRPG Videos you can then go on to Videos about your chosen RPG.

When you get familiar with the basic Fantasy Grounds product the next step is to check out some of the Extensions (Plug-Ins) for FG, such as the DOE: Sound (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?31369-DOE-Sound-Extension), DOE: Locations (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?20794-DOE-Locations-Extension), DOE: Weather (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?22142-DOE-Weather-Extension) and DOE: Organisations (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?27169-DOE-Organisations-Extension) Extensions (to name a but a few - and a Shameless™ Self Plug).

You may also want to drop into the FG College (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?40020-Join-Fantasy-Grounds-College-Learn-Fantasy-Grounds-learn-D-amp-D-and-then-play!); a great place for newcomers to get started.

And of course, there's plenty of Twitch Channels where you can watch games in progress (including my own - https://www.twitch.tv/dulux_oz - another Shameless™ Self Plug).

And keep on asking questions - we're a pretty friendly lot here, and we love answering questions.

Cheers
