Setting Brief:
The Argo Galaxy, a spiral galaxy roughly 55,000 light-years in diameter and located around 60 million light-years from Earth, is governed by the House of the Alliance. The House contains representatives of the Gemini people and the 5 allied xeno races the Gemini have befriended. Numerous other races are members of the Alliance, but have only token representation in the House. The Argo Galaxy is extremely large with the potential for any number of hostile or friendly xenos. The House of the Alliance is always on the look out to find new allies and document hostiles. The Academy of Interstellar Studies and Ecologies (or the Academy) is an institution of xenobiologists, explorers, and other academics charged by the House with the study and understanding of all species in Alliance space, while the Allied Navy serves as a line of defense for any major hostile xeno incursions.

Outside this governing body, the power within the Argo Galaxy is largely held by the corporations. These vast organizations employ the masses of the allied races and have operational revenues in the multi-trillion credit range. The corporations are responsible to protect their own holdings. As such, they recruit mercenaries to protect their interests and seek out anyone that would do the corporation wrong. A mercenary force is the term given to a group of mercenaries working together for a single corporation and they fall under the direction of the Master of the Mercenary Forces.

After years of study, the House of the Alliance finally decided to open the Hastilion Expanse about 5 years ago for full settlement and corporate utilization. Researchers identified numerous planets and moons as optimal for civilization and corporations from around the known galaxy began making plans to acquire land. Since its inception, Drake Mining and Manufacturing Corporation has prided itself on mining resources and creating high-quality products from those resources to support the entire galaxy. Moving into the Hastilion Expanse provided them with a wealth of opportunities to expand their operations and grow their business. Not wanting other corporations to claim the most promising mining territories, Drake immediately started purchasing the rights to numerous lands throughout the expanse.

Drake Mining and Manufacturing has yearly revenue of roughly ten trillion credits and expects to spend approximately 500 billion credits on its current expansion. The company has estimated returns to be close to five trillion credits per year once the expansion is completed for a net increase in revenues of 50%. Drake has already has a large presence in the Hastilion Expanse, including its galactic headquarters located in the city-state of Machenko on Dansk, the cultural center of the Sector and its most populated planet. Their headquarters consists of a large campus filled with tens of thousands of employees supported by corporate housing, restaurants, shopping malls, and supermarkets. The campus is very self-sufficient and allows the corporation to provide its employees benefits, including free room and board, that offset the smaller-than-industry-standard salaries Drake offers. The new mercenary forces established to secure this expansion is headed by Lord Meirion Leohn, a longtime Drake executive.

New characters will be experienced Drake mercenaries that have been pulled from other teams to backfill resent losses in Lord Leohn’s “A-team.” Effectively a company promotion.
