Basic Skype Question...what does FG require?

There is a free download but there is also a phone service....what is best for FG gaming?

Whatever voice communications you use, you're going to want to be able to have a "conference" with all of the players and the GM. Whereas the basic Skype install can do this, it is quite heavy on bandwidth for the person who started the conference - so it's recommended that the GM doesn't start the conference as they have to upload FG data, etc. and this can impact on the voice side if the GM is also running the Skype conference.

Most people that I know who run games on FG don't use Skype - they tend to use TeamSpeak, Discord or other similar server based communications applications - where the bandwidth use is equal across all users.

OK I downloaded Discord. I plugged in my headset/microphone. Is it always on, or do I need to do anything else before a game?

In Discord their is a setting icon, looks like a gear. In there is the option to set the mic and speaker to your headset.

So poking around, all I need do, is coordinate which channel on the FG Discord server with the DM and i am in...right.
Man, I need a tutorial game just to get a feel for FG.

Check on the FG College Discord channel. They might have some classes going on or someone might be hanging around who can give you a hands-on session. But even if not, don't worry about it, the GMs for FG Daze expect some people to be totally new. Just make sure you let him know and you'll be good.
