line in a column

I am not a programmer, just an enthusiast in generating extensions of modifications and would like to know if someone could tell me if it is possible and where I could find tips on how to insert a row in a column, since I am wanting to do an extension for the ruleset of the GURPS where I can enter the two attack modes of a melee weapon, as the system uses two modes of attack, swing and thrust, for most melee weapons.
