So I have been playing 5e for awhile I have all the books. However it's tough to get everyone together nowadays and I'm trying to figure out what I would need to buy in order to play tomb of annialation with my players. I tried searching but all the post are old and don't seem up to date.
What I planned to do was buy a $9.99 subscription and the campaign for $19.99. however I saw people in here mention buy the class pack so your player characters can play....also noticed in the store player customization pack... And individual class packs. I didn't see a bundle of all the classes or races or anything like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi +1Beard welcome to FG.

A subscription + the adventure + the Player's Handbook (The latter is the combined class and customization packs). Some more information here (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?32987-What-do-I-need-to-play-5e).

If your players want to use any of the character options from extra books like Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide or Xanathar's etc you'd need those books. But you totally don't need them to have fun with the campaign. It works with just the original players handbook alone.

I love using fantasygrounds personally.

But if your players are somewhat computer literate they can actually build their characters in program easily enough with the free SRD or basic 5e rulesets. It just means manually inputting things that aren't covered by those rulesets.

Having the PHB and other books on hand is well worth the time expense and allows for fast referencing imo. Especially when it comes to stuff like spells or items.

I would suggest buying the three core books and xanathars guide at least.

Keep in mind that if you wish to run premade adventures you probably won't need the monster manual ord DMG very often though as the adventure will have all of the magical items, npcs and monsters built into it.

EDIT

Only the ultimate license shares the books you purchase with the players using the demo version (although apparently one demo user can connect to a standard license, this I did not know before)

That‘s new to me. I thought the full license will do as well, when players with a full license as well connect to the GM host,

You are correct, Targas. Any non-free license can share content with anyone who can successfully connect to your game. It is just that only the Ultimate license can have multiple free licenses connect. The standard license can have an unlimited number of standard (or Ultimate) licenses connect, but only one demo (free) license.
