Hey,

I have a post under Cthulhu, but I think I would like to broaden my chances here.. lol.. The guys that have responded have all be really great, but I am having a different issue..

I have the Sound.ext and the Base.ext, I have the newest version of SciFi Syrinscape. I have watch a few videos by the people that are generously doing them to help us that are not as up on how it works..
In these videos they show the ability to create these sounds and drap and drop them to the chat, maps, notes, story,, and more.. That part works for me just fine, in the chat window, a notes window and in the story it works great..
However in the sound window,, it does not work.. So, where I would like to have groans, moans, growls, lightning and more at my fingers for flair and mode.. it will not play.. I have recreated the sounds, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, rebooted.. nothing allows me to click on random or desired sounds from the sound window to play.. It forces me to place it in another area and then click on it..

Any Ideas...

Thanks in advance. and take care..

Z..

Where are you getting the Soundlinks from? Are you creating them yourself or are you importing them from someone else's module?

I am following the instructions from the video and creating them.. Basically, going to Syrinscape, hiting the +, Copying to clipboard.. Back in FG, going to Sounds, Setup, Edit, Add, Name the sound, Paste the string in the sound string, hitting the green plus to create sound, then lock it, close and go back to the sounds tab and if I click the purple note, nothing happens.. I watch Syrinscape in dual screens to make sure, and still nothing..

Can you please post a screen-shot of the Soundlink Record.

OK, obvious question: have you turned ON sounds in the FG Options?

I am willing to bite, and trust me, I am fine is it is me being stupid..

It plays from the icon in the chat window, and it plays if I place an icon in a set of notes..

Where do I turn it on, if it is not already on.. It is over in my list of GM stuff.. and I as in the picture for campaign, I have it dotted..

Yeap, that's what I thought it was (based on the questions & answer exchanged).

Just so you (& anybody else reading this) knows, clicking on a link - *any* link - in the ChatBox is *not* using the "inner workings" of the DOE:Sound, only the basic URL-handling of the FG-Engine which the DOE:Sound (& the DOE:OLE) enhance and build upon.

Glad we got it sorted for you.

Cheers

OK, so I've done some extensive testing and can find no errors at all. This leads me to the conclusion that there is something incorrect about the set-up/usage between the GM's and the Player's computers. In an effort to resolve this issue I have outlined the complete set-up and testing methodology I used to confirm everything works correctly.

On The GM's Widows Computer
=======================

Load Syrinscape (v1.3.7-20180815 - Sci-Fi Player)
TEST 1 - Test that the GM can hear a Sound (any sound will do - I used the "Wilhelm Scream" from the "Alien Cantina" Sci-Fi Soundset).
If Test 1 works, load Fantasy Grounds with your chosen Ruleset with the DOE:Base and DOE:Sound - I used my main Desktop PC with an Ultimate License of the latest version of FG (v3.3.6a) with the CoreRPG with the DOE:Base (v3.2.1) and the DOE:Sound (v4.2.1).
Confirm that Sound is turned *ON* in the FG Settings.
Test 2 - Open a Soundlink Record in Fantasy Grounds and Click on the Purple SoundLink Icon (Purple Box with a White Treble Clef).
If Test 2 works then turn *OFF* Sounds in the FG Settings and close Syrinscape - during an actual game you can leave Syrinscape loaded and Sounds *ON* if the GM wants to hear the Sounds - it makes no difference to this tests.

On The Player's Windows Computer
==========================

Follow Steps 1-5 of the GM's Set-up and Tests listed above, substituting "Player" for "GM".
If Test 1 & 2 works on the Player's PC close Fantasy Grounds completely.
Load Fantasy Grounds and *Join* the GM's game/host (For this test I used my Laptop with a Free License and v3.3.6a of Fantasy Grounds).
Confirm that Sound is turned *ON* in the FG Settings.

Final Confirmation
=============
If Tests 1 & 2 on both the GM's PC and the Player's PC have all worked (that's 4 tests in total, 2 on each PC), and both the GM's PC and the Player's PC are set up as outlined above (respectively), then the following Test should work:

TEST 3
The GM clicks on the same Purple SoundLink Icon as he did in Test 2. The GM will *NOT* hear any sound (unless he did *NOT* shutdown Syrinscape and did *NOT* turn *OFF* Sounds in the FG Options as instructed in Step 6).
The Player should hear the sound.

So, try all that and let us know how you go

Cheers
