Hello everyone!
I've been interested in the early D&D editions for a long time now, but haven't been able to find a group either irl or online. I am used to DM'ing 5e, but have no familiarity with the rules (and aesthetic feel) of the old systems.
What kind of group am I looking for?: Ideally 4/5 adult players + GM playing 1e/2e, or 5e.
An idea for a campaign I'd love to play in right now: I'd definitely prefer to play some of the published adventures, or just general structured adventures with an overarching plot. I have some bad experiences with sandbox. I am also a fan of lethal games. I find it exceptionally boring to play 100% safe character-focused games where character death isn't an option (this is also why I am attracted to the earlier versions of D&D). I will always do my best to keep my character alive, but if there's no fear of irreversible death then a lot of the excitement disappears in my opinion.
Time Availability: I prefer playing on weekdays as I am often busy during the weekends. I am from Denmark (but live in Germany), so I'm using Central European Summer Time (CEST)
Monday - Thursday: 18.00 - midnight
Personal info: I'm a 29 year old PhD student. I've DM'ed Lost Mines, a fairly large number of one-shots and the first part of Tomb of Annihilation. I'm hoping to DM ToA again at some point, but I can't do it online until I am more familiar with the FG software.
My characters in general: Since I DM a lot, I rarely get to create characters. I often steal ideas shamelessly; my most recent character was very loosely based on The Count of Monte Cristo (the others never suspected a thing!). I'm generally very happy to create a character that fits the group. I've found that other people typically have stronger feelings concerning this than I do. My attachment to a character happens after a couple of sessions - that's when I get to know him/her! :)
Thanks for reading!
