Hello, I have been looking into switching to Fantasy Grounds over Roll20 and trying to figure out if this would be a viable option for my gaming group. Currently within our group we have 2 DMs that run weekly games and 2 others that jump in for short bursts when our main DMs need breaks. We currently use roll20 by having one premium account with pretty much all the books we need that we deem the 'DM account' so whoever is running the game logs into that account to run the game while everyone else uses free accounts. Would something like this be an option? Where we buy one Ultimate subscription and can share it?

Hello Shorchit,

Thanks for considering Fantasy Grounds. We offer a 30-day trial on all purchases and subscriptions if you'd like to try out the functionality at all. In a group with multiple DMs, having multiple Standard licenses or subscriptions is probably your best bet. Unfortunately, we don't allow shared DM accounts on our platform and each DM would need to own their own modules. When players connect, the DM can mark modules to be shared to the players and they will become available for use during the session -- and only during the session. We do try to make our prices as low as possible on DLC modules and we also work to ensure that adventure modules have everything you need to play from the perspective of monsters and items. The area where you would likely have the most duplication of content across accounts would be on PHB and other player focused resources. I would assume that each DM would probably already be running different adventures.

If each DM runs for an extended of time, you could also look at doing an Ultimate subscription plus the DLC you need on the 1st DM account. Then, when you switch DMs, you could cancel the sub on account 1 and have DM #2 start up a new Ultimate license plus DLC. The Standard licenses or subs are probably the way to go though.

If you all run different systems - eg D&D, StarFinder, Call of Cthulhu and Savage Worlds then its easy - that GM would buy the resources for that system.
Each of you would buy/sub a standard license.

FG isn't particularly friendly for rotating GMs as in Roll20 you can just designate another GM after loading in your content, in FG everything is tied to the host account.

I believe roll20 and FG both have the same view/official stance on sharing accounts.
