This is just a very quick announcement to let people know of the official dates for FG Con 13!

It will be Friday the 12th October to Sunday 14th. Starting around 5pm New Zealand time on the Friday and ending around midnight Hawaii time on the Sunday - over 72 hours of gaming.

So, block out that weekend... Get your game(s) on! :)

We'll be spending the next week updating the FG Con website and testing the booking system etc..

A few things to keep in mind for FG Con:
1) Run the games using Fantasy Grounds, and the “live” setting. The GM should have a minimum of a GM/Standard license - SmiteWorks upgrade Standard/GM licenses to Ultimate for the period of the convention. With a standard license you can GM any players for the convention - with or without licenses.
2) Run each session in a designated time slot - the length and start time is up to you. Keep to this time slot to allow players the chance to take part in as many events as possible - try to start on time and don't overrun!
3) Use the FG Con website and event booking system. You can advertise events elsewhere (we encourage that), but all event listings and player booking have to be through the FG Con site. GMs are required to enter their own events so that they have full access to player bookings for review and communication. GMs are required to communicate with their players for pre-event confirmation and coordination.
4) Use the FG Con designated Discord server for in-session communications.
5) Only run games during the weekend of Friday 12th – Sunday 14th October.
6) Abide by the instructions and directions of the FG Con admin team.

It can be anything you want, for any system you can run reasonably well on FG. General convention guidelines in post #1 of this thread. Adventure guidelines are basically assume PG-13 for content, unless you're very, very clear in your event post that it's for a more mature audience.

Player registration will start at 12-noon (GMT) on Friday 21st - 4 days away! So, anyone planning on running a game, please try to enter your event this week. You can enter it later (but not much alter), but your best chance of filling your event will be having it posted (and approved - which can take up to 24 hours) before player registration opens.

Also, as the usual suspects are super busy at the moment (FG development with tight timescales, etc.) please help spread the word and let others know about FG Con 13. Thanks!

I would like to encourage other GM's to join the CON! I think it is a great way to share your creativity with the Fantasy Grounds Community at large. Furthermore, you can always run a one shot that is completely a different genre, ruleset, tone, group alignment than you usually would. Go for it folks!! GMs - if you're considering running an event for FG Con please think about entering it on the FG Con website in the next week, the earlier the better - this will maximize your chance of getting players and also mean less messing around for players and other GMs.

FG Con 13 starts in 2 weeks time!

You don't need a FG license to play in the community ran FG Con, and it's free!

There is still time for FG GMs to add events - but please be quick.

Players - there are plenty of events with spaces available.

Make sure you have your timezone set in your FG Con website profile so that the times appear correctly for you. Please book a slot only if you are sure of the time for you and that you can make it. We don't over-book, have spare spaces for events or assume that a certain percentage will drop out - if you're booked on an event then we expect you to show! If, as sometimes happens, real-life takes over and you can't make a session you've already booked - communicate with the GM (post a comment on the FG Con event or email them if they've already emailed you) and cancel your booking from the "My Bookings" page. No showing can have a big impact on the event, so please be courteous to everyone involved in this community and let them know if you won't be there for a session. It only takes a minute. Thanks.

Hey all. I posted my game to the FG con about a week ago and I'm a little suprised to see no sign-ups even though most games are filled.

Any veterans have any tips or feedback on why it's empty? Is it the time? Sound too boring? Lack of pre-gens? As a player I always saw games that used pre-gens as something negative rather than a positive. Also, my main incentive for GMing in the Con is because I'm hoping to find others who I would DM for in a future campaign , and I'm hoping to find the kind of players who really enjoy and prefer making their own unique characters.

It's possible there's a few reasons:
1: It's late sunday night, ruling out Australia, Europe, and the east coast for folks who work monday.
2: Previous commitments at that time slot.
3: Lack of premades: I am letting folks build their own, but also providing premades in case folks don't want to. So, maybe throw together a Fighter, Cleric, Mage, Thief pre-made set in case folks show up last minute.

I would guess time and lack of pregens. We always recommend that the GM provides pregens. A lot of people at conventions want to turn up and play - they'll commit to the session 100%, but a lot of people might not want to do much prep beforehand for a one-off game.

Its rarely that the session looks boring.
There are always a small number of sessions that dont get traction while similar looking sessions fill up quickly.

It is recommended that pre-gens are supplied - even if just as an option - for a One Shot.
Depending on your availability - you might try another timeslot?

As for pregens, I've got some 2nd level ones available for free on the DMsGuild. Other people have some pregens available on the Guild as well, and there are some om the forums here.

As mentioned, that'a tough time slot. I've got 3 games running at the con, Friday, Sat, and Sun. And Sunday was the one that filled up much later (just today) that the others.

Also, have you advertised your game on your social feeds? Though there are a lot of people who come and find a game just through the general FG awareness, it's always helps to direct people straight to your game as well.

I'll post some links to your game, hopefully that will help too.
