View Full Version : Reloaded Win 10 and lost my FG data

Good Day All :)
I had a Win 10 issue and had to reload the program, it showed numerous "apps" that would most likely be reloaded.
I looked at the list and saw nothing I was too concerned with and did the reload. Sadly I was not thinking about FG at that time and, sadly, when it finished my FG icon was gone from my desktop.

I looked for the folder on my C: drive and it was there, elation on my part! Until I opened the campaign folder and it was empty, as we're all the rest.

I reloaded FG and put my Ultimate key in and, of course, my Campaign is not there.

After all this explanation, my question is is there maybe some secondary location my data was saved to that I do not know?

Thanks for any assistance :)

I don't know why Win 10 or a re-install would have deleted the contents of your campaign folder. More likely that your previous install was using a different location for the FG Data folder than your current one is.

Run a computer wide search for one of the fairly unique FG files like "db.xml" and see if that reveals a second location for your FG files from before.

Then, look at this thread and setup a backup so you don't have to worry about this in the back; https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?35578-How-to-back-up-AppData-folder-to-OneDrive-automatically&p=308736&viewfull=1#post308736

Yeah the only thing that would have deleted your campaign would have been a reformat of the hard drive. It is probably just under a different file path as LordEntrails suggests.

This is how I backup my FG.
It is customised for how I use FG

He may be looking at the wrong directory for FG data

Good Day All :)
Sorry for the delay, was at work when I read this and had to wait to do the search :)
For some reason my db.xml files were all moved to a directory named "C:\Windows.old\Users\Asus\AppData\Roaming\Fantasy Grounds\Campaign\Bonkon's Game"

I was able to get the db back, minus the character pics so hopefully those come back with the character log on, if not it is not a big deal compared to losing about 20 game sessions :)

Thanks for the help, I did try to do a search before work by right clicking the Windows icon and selection search, to my surprise it opened Bing on me so I had to go to right click "File Explorer"

I appreciate this community, always helpful and courteous :)
