FG License: Ultimate
Game System: 5e

Time Zone: GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) = UTC + 0 https://time.is/GMT
Day of week and time: 9 pm / 21:00 (title incorrect, can't edit, it's at 9pm)
Planned Duration & Frequency: 3-4 hours, weekly.
Term: Medium to long length campaign. Possibly starting Storm Kings Thunder, or elements there from soon.

Text or Voice: Voice only
Voice software used: Discord

Roleplay & Combat mix: 60 RP/40 combat
Number of Players in game & needed: WE ARE FULL CURRENTLY, if this changes I'll change this notification and post an update to the thread.
Character starting level & equipment: 4th level
Character restrictions: Classes and races from PHB or XGtE. No monks, dragonborn or tieflings. Meta- and powergaming is discouraged, focus on creating deep interesting personas rather than trying to squeeze out stats and power levels. I balance the campaign to the group, not the other way around.

About myself: I'm an experienced GM of over 10 years in a number of gaming systems, who likes to create personalized story arcs involving the characters around the gaming table. I encourage in-character roleplaying and character development with realistic interactions with a living breathing world. Voice acting is encouraged as I do the same for my "actors" in the game to varied levels of success.

Summarizing my GM style: A marriage of the narrative storytelling and NPC roleplaying (voice acting and "performing") of Mathew Mercer from Critical Role or Encounter Roleplay in general, with the rules adherence, story and deep player character development style of Chris Perkins from Dice Came Action.
As for my overall general approach to GMing this video featuring Chris Perkins and a second one on RPG Etiquette are pretty accurate to what I try to accomplish and expect from my players.

Campaign

This is an open ended campaign that is based in the Forgotten Realms, in the Moonshae Isles west of the Sword Coast.

A viking themed fey infused campaign, with giants and sea raids placed in the northern part of the isles. A place where the lines of morality blur and dark deeds are done in the name of good and evil equally. Here the lines between nature, spirits, the magical creatures of the wild and man are in a state of constant struggle.

The players would most likely be Northmen themselves or some sort of fey, sea or nature beings that could be expected to intermingle with them. Think viking/scandinavian sagas and lore. Or have some other good reason they might be there and be accepted by the local community, at least to a degree they might function there.

The campaign started in the capital viking town of the vikings, the seat of the kings power, by the sea front on a rocky island. The characters might do raids themselves on other settlements and sail to far away places in the world, seeking relics or lore.

This setting would offers the option for a great variety of different types of adventures and locations, due to being a seafaring nation of hardened more savage northmen, wrestling and coping with all sorts of temperaments of nature. Just like the vikings did.

The Moonshae Isles alone themselves are also a collection of varied clashing culture groups and lands of great adventures.

Current campaign situation

We are finishing the latter parts of The Forge of Fury and may end up playing through Storm Kings Thunder, or some elements there of, afterwards. On the other hand I also have a great number of continued customized story arcs for a long campaign available already that I might present.

Table Rules

#1 Read and understand the Table Rules before joining your first game.
Be courteous and respectful to your fellow players and GM.
If any problems arise during sessions, keep them off the gaming table. Instead shoot me a private in-game message and I’ll make a judgment call on the spot and deal with it accordingly. Or you can bring them to me after the session to be discussed and dealt with in a private manner.
Rule Disagreements: If we disagree, you have three minutes to either find the rule, or convince me it should work how you want. After that I'll make a ruling and tell you why I think it should be that way. There will be no further discussion, and the rule will work that way for the remainder of the session. After the session I will have a more thorough read of the rules, and if you're still unhappy we can discuss further. At the start of next session, I will announce a better-thought-out rule, which we will use from then on, unless we find flaws in it.
I will wing things to keep things moving, while we will try to stick to the rules for the most parts, overall story and flow trumps rules.
Respect other peoples time, don’t be late to planned sessions.
If you can't make a session, let me know with as much advance prior to the session as possible. That way if there aren't going to be enough players for the upcoming session I can notify everyone else so they can make other plans for the evening.
Prior experience with D&D 5e to some extent is expected. You will need to read the character creation section as you will be expected to create your own character. Though within FG it should all be drag and drop more or less.
As a GM my main focus is on the grander scheme of things and running a good game, so I trust the players to handle their own part of the game correctly and honestly and learn the rules as well as they can. So please read the rules and refresh any weaknesses in your knowledge as they come up and make sure you become the masters of your own characters inns and outs. Players with little to no D&D 5e experience will be given help and time to get to that point, but in the end it does require a little effort on behalf of the players.
As a GM my workload is often vast. You can think of what is presented to you during play as the top of an iceberg, that is usually the only part you see of what it takes to make the story and adventure possible. So anything you as a player can do to make life easier and the game more enjoyable for everyone is appreciated. The prior note is a large contributor to this.
During play we use headsets over Discord for voice.
There will be no streaming or recording of any kind of the sessions nor is it allowed for any of the players involved.
If at any time you have any questions, feedback or concerns. You’ll find that I’m very approachable and reasonable, and you can always send me a private message or we can have a short private talk after a session.
No "stealing" or slight-of-handing items and treasure from other character or in general from the rest of the group is allowed. Treasure is shared by all.
RPG Etiquette! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9X2Tz7QegM
We're all here to spend a few hours in good company and to have fun, so do your best to bring your good mood and share your imagination and varied acting and voice acting skills with us during play times!

How to apply

Simply answer the following questions as a post in the thread below. As I run a few games it is hard to keep track of the applications if they come in as private messages and they can get lost among other communication. Also if you post here I may return to your application later if a spot opens up.

We're looking for experienced and active in-character roleplayers who enjoy doing voice acting during play as the rest of us do. Think voice acting such as in in Critical Role or Encounter Roleplay as an example.

I'll read through all the applications and will send private messages to those which I think might make a good fit and ask you to meet up for a friendly little chat on Discord to go over things for the both of us. After which you may be invited to join on a trial basis of 1-3 sessions, a grace period of no hard feelings either way, before becoming a permanent member.

Thank you for your time and interest.

Do you have any previous role-play experience?
I've played d&d a few times and understand how rp works. I usually don't go as far to change my voice to match my character but I do make decisions based on how my character would.

What would be your preferred focus for the game?
I would like to focus on the overall story that is told after all is said and done and look back on the memories I had with the group.

What are you hoping to get out of the game?
A somewhat immersive experience that allows me and the group to have impact on the story. Most importantly making sure that is an enjoyable experience overall.

Are you a friendly and flexible person that is able to get along well with other people?
Definitely.

Post your character concept.
Just a brief description(would go more in depth later). I would play a ranger that had to find a way to make a living by doing odd tasks for money and supplies. His parents would have been hard workers doing whatever they could to survive. After he turned of age he adapted their hard work ethic and is kind to people and gives them the benefit of the doubt. If he was betrayed by someone he would seem to give them the cold shoulder and not trust them from that point on. He is bored of his current situation and wants to venture out of his home town. (Would go more in depth but I don't know much about the story.)

Post your character concept.

A priest of Helya, The Goliath, Skær. A (cleric/paladin not sure which yet) of the goddess of death, he is a quiet fellow.
He saw helya in a vision, while on a sick bed, and seeks to save people from what he sees as the lies of Odyn.
(Basically he's very dedicated to not letting people die in battle. But could care less if you're dieing of an illness or in your bed.)

Do you have any previous role-play experience?
I have been playing Tabletop RPGs since the late 90's mostly D&D but also spent time playing Vampire and a lot of Rifts. Also Shadowrun and Pathfinder

What would be your preferred focus for the game?
Being a Viking Campaign probably conquest either through force, tactics, or persuasion

What are you hoping to get out of the game?
Good fun times slaughters people and getting drunk or just smooth talking my way to a free drink and a fat paycheck

Are you a friendly and flexible person that is able to get along well with other people?
Absolutely

Post your character concept.
Petris, Firbolg/Bugbear(either or if allowed) Paladin of Conquest.
Petris is the seventh son of the seventh son, foretold to be great....at drinking. He can drink an entire barrel of any alcohol before passing out. He is also very handy with pretty much any weapon that can be wielded while sober or drunk.

I have replied to some of you, and am awaiting your responses over the PMs.

That said we're looking to add two more to our group at this point.
I want to remind people that we are in the EU timezone (GMT = UTC + 0) at 9pm gmt Monday evenings, on a weekly basis.
What we are primarily looking for is someone who enjoys a good story and in character roleplaying, with an established group of solid players.

There have been some changes to the campaign since its start and a grand story is starting to unveil itself. A lighter tone has been mixed in to counterbalance the grimmer elements, magic and a greater mixture of races is becoming more available to players due to world shaking in game story arcs. The group is now level 3.

Please take the time to send me the replies to the general application questions if you are interested, in return you can expect a high quality campaign with good players.

Hello, my names Joe

I'm a completely new player to Fantasy Grounds or TTRPG's in general, I have only played four three hour sessions of firefly before,
so I am looking for a somewhat patient group to help me get started.

Some Helpful info

I only have a free licence at the moment I thought it best to wait to play a game or two before I committed to buying the full licence.

What would be your preferred focus for the game?

I am really just looking to get stuck into TTRPG's and want to experience it all before I start forcing my expectations onto the games I am in.

What are you hoping to get out of the game?

I just want to get some 5E/FG's experience under my belt and get started.

Are you a friendly and flexible person that is able to get along well with other people?

I am open minded and interested in meeting people in this space so I can have lots of fun in the future.

character concept:
I am interested in making a Druid because from my initial research it seems like one of the more straight forward of the classes being a general all rounder.

I would be a General survivalist that is very indifferent to "civilized" life and being of the general opinion that the further we are from nature the weaker the people in that environment become less independent ect, seeing people who live lives of luxury as lesser beings much to their distaste when I freely voice my opinions to them.

I would not be of the opinion that nature needs to be protected because as someone who lives in it I know that nature knows how to protect itself, instead I would be of the opinion that nature needs to be respected and feared most of all lest your village or city be crushed underfoot of natures wrath and given back to the earth.

So far we're having a lot of fun with our campaign.

We have just started the Forge of Fury module from the Tales from the Yawning Portal with the group, which has been fitted within the campaign in a meaningful manner.

We now only have one space left until the group is full (4 out of 5).

If you're interested in in-character roleplaying and a good story with elements of risk and danger mixed in, then please fill out an application to be considered to join a good consistent group.

Do you have any previous role-play experience?
None personally; my experience with D&D comes from watching others online as well as researching aspects of the game.

What would be your preferred focus for the game?
I like a bit of everything: combat, role-play, exploration. As long as there's a fair amount of each, I'm satisfied.

What are you hoping to get out of the game?
This will be my first D&D campaign, and I certainly hope it won't be my last. I'm hoping to gain experience with the game, as well as new perspective as a player, rather than a bystander.

Are you a friendly and flexible person that is able to get along well with other people?
I'd certainly think so.

Do you enjoy in-character roleplaying?
Absolutely. Of all the campaigns I watched, both good and okay, the roleplay has always been the highlight for me.

Are you an engaged player (active participator in the game, in interactions between the players, their characters and the world around your character)?
As a newbie, I hope to be as much as I can without upstaging others.

Post your character concept.
Daemon Flare is a Tiefling Fighter who adores competition, and above all, wants to be involved in it. So long as the game is fair, he will get enjoyment from it. If it isn't, he'll be quite upset. As a fighter, he enjoys the thrill of combat, though prefers peaceful approaches--if applicable. He travels the world--battleaxe in hand--searching for the next thrill.

Hey

Do you have any previous role-play experience?
About 2 years of 5E D&D, played on another virtual tabletop platform, mostly as DM.

What would be your preferred focus for the game?
RP, I also enjoy difficulties in the game.

What are you hoping to get out of the game?
Some memorable moments, good portion of RP and I am also complete baby when it comes to Fantasy Grounds, this game seems like it could be a great introduction and also a long term investment.

Are you a friendly and flexible person that is able to get along well with other people?
I do thinks so, I hate conflicts and as DM I run games for a lot of different people, was and also learned to be even more patient.

Do you enjoy in-character roleplaying?
I do, as much as it is possible, though Im not very good with the whole accents thing, I do try though.

Are you an engaged player (active participator in the game, in interactions between the players, their characters and the world around your character)?
As long as it makes sense for the character im active. I did not play very long as a player so it is hard to say if im really very active or not. I really hate metagaming so I would rather pull info with the character if it is possible and the character would have at least a hint about something.

Post your character concept.
Human, Shadow Sorcerer.

I sailed from place to place looking for best deals, a simple merchant I was, cheaply bought, cheaply sold, I never was very good at it. Too honest but at least people liked me and sometimes even gave me more money than I asked for. Life was, fine, I had home and even a soulmate, well later I found out that she just enjoyed free clothes that I was also trading for and she also took over my house. When I tried to get it back I was met with pitchforks in my face but that is separate story.

Getting to business, which I was all about, everything changed about an year ago. As usual i was sailing to make a deal, this time with some low end spices, I talked with other passengers, I even managed to secure the best deal in my carrier, cucumbers straight from Baldur's Gate. I would make a small fortune on them, ehh, I would, I did not. Nasty Sahuagins boarded the ship, first they killed the deal by killing the guy and then they killed me. Yes, they killed me, at least I think they did. You see I woke up in a very particular circumstances, beneath the earth, in a coffin. I guess Im thankful to the woman that she did not burn me and she did leave a flower on my grave, though it was already rotten and also the gravestone was cheap, crumbling. If the coffin wasn't so poorly made and the stone so cheap I probably would not be able get out, so in the end it worked alright I guess. So I managed to dig my way out, it took me some time. Then I was chased by my old neighbors and my ''fiance'' when I tried to get to my house. I think they took me for an undead, I couldn't really speak so that probably did not help my case. After that I was wondering here and there and I found out that I gained magical powers, which let me tell you, was a nice change from all the not the greatest things that happened to me. I could speak again, though the pale visage and some other quirks made it very hard to return to my old ways of ''living''. I decided to become an adventurer and maybe somehow find out what happened to me and that is how I found myself here.

Hiya, I'm Hylas, and I was looking to see if I can't get in on some nice monday night DND. I'm a central standard time fellow but I don't mind staying up a little later. I have discord and and a headset.

Do you have any previous role-play experience?
Almost a year of 5e under my belt, more than a year watching the game.

What would be your preferred focus for the game?
I love RP, and I can always flesh out my combats with descriptions of where I attack and how rather than the typical "I swing with my sword."

What are you hoping to get out of the game?
I'm looking for a bit of adventure, but not looking to become heroes or anything of that caliber. I want to rather "be in the right place, at the right time" kind of group, but doing a little good doesn't hurt either.

Are you a friendly and flexible person that is able to get along well with other people?
I try my best to make sure everyone is comfortable with what I play and how I play. If such the case were to occur where I did something that the group deemed uncomfortable or anything such the like, I'd correct myself in the most appropriate manner.

Do you enjoy in-character roleplaying?
I go so far as to try and voice-act a little for the character that I play, which often leads to light teasing but I don't mind. I love interacting with the world as another character.

Are you an engaged player (active participator in the game, in interactions between the players, their characters and the world around your character)?
I like to engage in situations that deem it appropriate/necessary. If a character is having a heartfelt speech or is trying to give important instructions I try not to interject. I do believe to be quite sociable.

Post your character concept.
Nephros, the Aasimar Rogue. A character who loves to drink and boast with the rowdiest bunch and enjoys telling tales, tall as they might be, of his adventuring scopes and of almost becoming a warlock. With a glistening smile and a charm that seeps into souls, this is a man who knows the sky is not a limit, but rather a threshold that is meant to be broken. (Willing to change character as need be incase a rogue isn't needed)

Dark Angel
September 28th, 2018, 09:03
Do you have any previous role-play experience?
Yes. I have one year+ experience with one game, and recently joined a second (both on Roll20). Both games are in 5E style.

What would be your preferred focus for the game?
I'd say between roleplay and battle, I'd say 50/50.

What are you hoping to get out of the game?
I do hope to expect the unexpected, because that truly is fun. But in general, I hope to have fun, regardless of how.

Are you a friendly and flexible person that is able to get along well with other people?
Yes. But personally, I'm not much of a talker. That won't stop me from playing the best I can though.

Do you enjoy in-character roleplaying?
YES!!!

Are you an engaged player (active participator in the game, in interactions between the players, their characters and the world around your character)?
As I've said, I'm personally not much of a talker. But I do try. My character is intended to be a challenge for me.

Post your character concept.
Name Balrik Murkahm
Race Mountain Dwarf
Class Cleric (Trickery Domain)
Description Balrik is a stubborn dwarf. When he makes a decision, there's no changing it. He's got a short fuse and will demonstrate his anger through a punch to the gut. But after that, his anger is quick to subside. With the exception of the gut punch, Balrik is relatively passive aggressive. But he's a good friend, if a bit eccentric.

Do you have any previous role-play experience?

I have roughly 4 years of experience with D&D 5E, both DMing and playing. That being said, I am new to the Fantasy Grounds system.

What would be your preferred focus for the game?

I generally prefer a 50/50 split between combat and roleplay.

What are you hoping to get out of the game?

I am hoping to get involved with a group that allows me to get more invested in my character than I have previously been able to in the past.

Are you a friendly and flexible person that is able to get along well with other people?

I have no problem going with the flow, and if I do have a problem I will absolutely keep it off the table and bring it to your attention out of session.

Do you enjoy in-character roleplaying?

I love character roleplay, which is the reason I am seeking this group. Any of the groups I have played with in the past were more combat driven and less roleplay driven, and I would like a chance to see the other side of the coin, so to say.

Are you an engaged player (active participator in the game, in interactions between the players, their characters and the world around your character)?

I consider myself a very engaged player. When I design a character concept I like to try to consider every choice that character makes through their eyes, and to try not to "meta game" at all.

Post your character concept.

Karush Salt-Tusk - Half Orc Fighter - He was adopted by a pirate captain when they raided an orc village, as the captain couldn't bring himself to kill a child, even an orc child. He grew up on the seas and came to see this captain as his father. He worked his way up through the ranks and earned the title first mate, until there was a mutiny aboard the ship, and he was tossed overboard and left for dead. He is now seeking wealth to buy his own ship, hire his own crew and get revenge on the sorry crew that would dare turn their backs on their captain.

That's the shortened version. I hope to get a chance to flesh his character concept out more as we play. I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

If you're still looking for one more player, I'll throw my hat in.

Do you have any previous role-play experience?

I have two years experience with D&D 5e and CoC 7e.

What would be your preferred focus for the game?

I enjoy role playing and combat in equal measures. I am equally happy if a session ends up being mostly roleplaying or mostly combat.

What are you hoping to get out of the game?

I'm hoping to make some friends, roleplay a little viking fantasy, and familiarize myself with Fantasy Grounds

Are you a friendly and flexible person that is able to get along well with other people?

I'm friendly enough, but I do like keeping to myself. I don't want any out of character drama.

Do you enjoy in-character roleplaying?

I love role playing and I often jump between third person and first person when describing my characters behaviour.

Do you do voice acting or if not, would you be willing to go out of your comfort zone and try your best during sessions to do so?

I do voices, but I'm by no means a voice actor. Sometimes I will accidentally drift into other people's accents. It's something that I'm constantly working on

Are you an engaged player (active participator in the game, in interactions between the players, their characters and the world around your character)?

I will always participate if it makes sense for my character to participate.

Post your character concept.

I was playing around with a pirate "monk" idea, but I see that you don't want monks. In that case I'm also interested in playing a Scout Rogue or Forge Cleric. It doesn't take me a lot of effort to come up with a reasonable character backstory so I hope it's okay that I'm keep my ideas nebulous. I can put flesh on those bones when I have a more solid grasp of the setting.

We're full again, thank you for your interest. :)

ps. @Aragon Legolass
That's to bad, not enough spots this time around I'm afraid, best of luck finding a good game that suits you out there.

I know I'm to late now. But thought that maybe, if a spot opened up later. I might be up for a chance. I'm still very new to FG.
Do you have any previous role-play experience?
I've been playing D&D most of my life. I'm 37 and remember the older versions a little bit. Been playing 5e for as long as its been out. I've helped friends co run games but never GM'ed fully myself. I understand how to keep any meta knowledge off the table and still keep up with rules, class features, spell slots and whatnot.

What would be your preferred focus for the game?
I like a nice mix of combat and role playing. 50/50 or a little ether way. I feel a good balance of both sides makes for things not getting to stale. But as for other things. Such as exploration and puzzle solving, just to name a few. These can be thrown in along side whatever. As for myself. I do love to get in character but do have a tenancy to drop out for the odd joke lol.

What are you hoping to get out of the game?
A good time had by all :D That's what this is all about after all. Letting characters developed and grow while saving the world. Or at least becoming rich before dying haha

Are you a friendly and flexible person that is able to get along well with other people?
I like to think I'm very friendly. I can be a bit of a stickler at times, as I tend to know the rules fairly well. But I don't let it get the game bogged down or anything. 7/10 times a GM knows the rules as well or better than the players. Flexible I can be with most anything. As long as it makes sense for the story the GM is telling anything is possible in a land of fantasy!

Do you enjoy in-character roleplaying?
Very much so yes

Do you do voice acting or if not, would you be willing to go out of your comfort zone and try your best during sessions to do so?
I like to throw on voices for my characters and even attempt those female characters to help balance out groups a little. Always funny trying to be feminine

Are you an engaged player (active participator in the game, in interactions between the players, their characters and the world around your character)?
I do like to think a little outside the box or at least acknowledge other people and things around us and not just murder hobo everything insight that might give exp. Like you might see from some games.

Post your character concept.
I have several that might fit into this sort of theme and could make something new if needed. I would like to know what others are playing so to fit in with the group better.
But I have a wild druid concept that could fit into almost any setting. Wielding primal forces might work in your story.
A powerful Paladin which could easily be tweaked for a more Viking story feel. A horned helm and battle cries actually might perk that guy up haha
But I can easily go over other ideas, and probably would need to? Just to make sure casters that fit.

No need to monitor the thread, if a spot opens I'll return to the applications first and send PM's (that show up with a notification on the top right of your screen, by the email icon, when on the forums in general) to the potential players I wish to have a have a little chat with. :)
