Well, this was unexpected. I was really hoping for Spelljammer or Planescape first, as either could have served as bridges to other campaigns. Oh well.

And the inevitable question: Will we get a .mod for this? With it being a .pdf in the DMsGuild, I'm hoping it's not going to have the same issues as the Adventurer's League stuff.

I read that these PDFs are a bit like UA in that they're still considered to be playtest material so they're subject to change and new things are being added to them. Is the Fantasy Grounds module going to be waiting until it's finalized first or will their be work on the module before then?

I believe it will also be a living document but might not be updated as regularly as the PDF is...

It's considered playtest material, just like all the UA pdfs they have released.
