Table creation issues

Good day! Trying to make a simple 3 cell, multi-row table. I put the first cell in, type what needs to be in that cell, and then hit the CTRL+PLUS button, and nothing happens...I can see when I hit CTRL that the hotkey bar changes to it's CTRL variant...been racking my brain in trying to do this...

Thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?

ctrl+tab to add the second cell....

Tried that as well. My cursor disappears without having a second cell made.

Move your cursor somewhere new on page.

Press Ctrl+6, then press Ctrl+Tab
Does that work?

Enter the data first; then create the cells.
