So, I’ve searched around and haven’t found a solid answer on how to split the party in FG.

Our party has eight members (4 players). The decision was made to have four members investigate one lead and the other four follow up on another quest (same campaign).

When dealing with the combat tracker and the party sheet, for example, might it just be easier to make two separate campaigns and switch between them?

If there is a better way, please give suggestions.

Thanks!

Shaun

Hi masterburrfoot, welcome to FG

I don't think I would be creating two campaigns. There isn't really any one way to do it (other than not split the party). I just keep everyone on the same combat tracker and party sheet; you can easily have half the group on one map and the other half on another map. You just miss out the characters who aren't in a particular combat. The assumption here would be that even if only half the party were involved in a combat all of the party would get the same XP - even those not involved so there's no need to fiddle with the party sheet. If. however, you only wanted to give those involved excperience you can remove those that didn't take party before awarding experience or award it manually (You can drag/drop experience to individuals on the party sheet).

However I'm trying to answer questions that you might be asking. So, I'll throw it back to you. What issues do you think you'll have with a split party?

Zacchaeus, thanks for the speedy response.

Those issues/questions you mentioned were the exact ones I had in mind (giving out XP and dealing with the combat tracker). I had hoped there was another way that may be easier (a second instance of party sheet for example).

Also, just as one can skip hidden monsters in the combat tracker, I thought maybe there was a similar function for party members.

Thanks again for your insight.

Make the PCs neutral, then you can hide them (and it will skip automatically if that option is on).

Andraax, thanks. I’ll try that.
