Hi.

I have trouble with getting my game connected, it just says false when I run the test. I have tried Port Forwarding the router (dont know if I did it right though), I have tried with PureVPN, I have tried changing the firewall settings, i am using Avast.
So if anyone here can help me I would so much appreciate it. I am wanting to DM some friends but I need to the connection to work. When I tried canyouseeme.org with the port and ip, I got this reason for failure "Connection timed out".
I have tried stuff I have found on other posts, but still havent found a fix.

Welcome to the forum! Can you run tracert 8.8.8.8 from the command prompt on your computer and post the results here. The guys will look at it and let you know next steps.

Also, if you post you post what router you have that might be helpful to. To you only have a modem/router or do you have a mode that connects to a wireless router that than connects to your computer?

One other thing I remember with Avast. When you set the firewall rule for FG, make sure to set it to "5 bars" to allow all connections (inbound and outbound) and make sure your network is set to private and not public if you haven't already.

Ok a test that works better than the tracert test is this:

Write down the External IP that FG shows.
Go to google and type "what is my ip address?" and write that number down.
Log onto your router and locate the external/WAN/internet IP address and write that down.

1 and 2 will almost always be the same.
At least #1 and #3 need to be the same for you to be able to do Port Forwarding.
If #3 is different you need to contact your ISP and say -

"Im running a game that requires me to do an inbound port forward of TCP 1802 to my computer. Can you help me get that working?"
Dont mention the word server as many ISPs will misunderstand that word and not assist you.
Some ISPs will be able to help you but many will still not.

If #1 and #3 are different and your ISP cannot fix then look at the Port Forwarding Options thread and try one of those.

And my router is Zyxel VMG8924-B30A

I am trying to find where the external IP of the router is, but cant find it.

FG shows your external IP address on the load campaign start screen.

Check also that your network is set to private and especially since you are using Avast make sure that you have created a rule to allow Fantasy Grounds through Avast's firewall. Make sure also Avast hasn't already quarantined FG.
