Hi

I am having problems loading one campaign file in FG. Every time I load it crashes FG. Looking at the task manager memory use goes up to about 1.2 Gigs and then crashes FG. I assume I must be running into some memory limit on campaign size? The main db file is 1.27m and the images folder is running at 62 meg though I assume the whole images folder doesn’t get loaded up at the start. It’s a 5e game with loads of official and unofficial mods running. I been having the problem for a month or so and have worked round it by using back up campaign files. I have rebuilt the campaign twice now and done a full reinstall on FG.
I back up the campaign folder at the end of each session separately and I back the Player character files up every so often. I had to make new campaign with these PC files however I had FG crashing on me when players tried to add portraits/tokens to their PC’s. I had to get them to email them to me so I could add them at my end.

Any help or advice would be appreciated

rename modulestate.xml and only share the resources you actually need.
reduce the number of tokens in your/tokens directory
click in images in FG and click All until it shows Shared. unshare (and even remove) any images that are no longer required.

Thanks for replying at what must be late o'clock in Australia.

You said "rename modulestate.xml. " I already have file called that so what file should i be renaming?

Can having a large portraits folder ( main folder not the portraits folder within the campaign folder) cause memory issues?

Thanks I will give that a try. Can having a large portraits folder cause memory issues?

Like everything it depends on the definition of 'Large'. Portraits are generally very small and don't take up a lot of room, and I'm not sure whether they are loaded into memory on start up or not. But if they are and you have thousands of them, then they will eventually cause grief.

about 12 meg 229 portraits, amazing how they build up

I had a look at the modulestate file Damned mentioned and am going to delete a few of the entries on some of modules that are large and discretionary ( mainly token modules) and see if that works

Indeed. You don't need token modules open once a token has been assigned. And tokens are all added to memory and they do take up a lot of memory if, again, you have many of them.

Still - clean up tokens and portraits.
Portraits dont need to be more than 100x100px.
