The one that hits home for me - The Wizard! In second edition, the mage had 1d4 hp (and we rolled that back in the day) and one spell.

"Do I use it now?!"

Invariably, I almost never used it because I was afraid to waste it when I needed it for a bigger foe just around the next corner.
