Point buy can't be done other than in manage characters. At least the way it's done in Manage characters. It can obviously be done manually if your maths is up to it.

Nice extension. If needed there are a lot of ways to share a screen to allow a DM to watch as an alternative. Skype can do it for free plus any of a dozen other teleconference websites. So people have a few options if any given way doesn't work. But as you point out the DM can check the math afterward too.

Currently using FGC v 3.3.10 ULTIMATE on Ubuntu 20.20 LTS Wine 5.11

I can access Point Buy OK in Manage Characters from the launch window as explained here. However, after clicking the button to assign point ranges, only the values in the left hand (Score) column can be modified. The boxes in the right hand (Cost) column are not editable. I have tried clicking on them and tabbing to them - all of no use

Is this feature no longer supported in FGC, or just an honest regression perhaps?

No, it hasn't changed. I don't know if it has something to do with your OS but my tests reveal that it works as expected in Windows version.
