Any news on how it is coming along, is there assistance required anywhere?
The kickstarter states
"FANTASY GROUNDS - Implementation in progress*"
I ask because I know some companies have stated things in the past when there was no such agreement with roll20 or FG.
I am currently holding off because I would hate putting my limited time into something that will just be superceded in a month or two, with the additional kick in ter gut that I would have to pay for the content again regardless lol.

I've done a 2d20 ruleset with a Star Trek Adventures extenson. You could use that as a base for a Conan extension. There's also a MoreCore theme.

Click the "Valarian's Fantasy Grounds Rulesets" link in his signature, then look in the CoreRPG directory.

So, is there an official implementation being worked on?

Im not aware of one.
MoreCore also has a /conan dice mechanic.

Can we get a comment from a dev, or smiteworks employee?
Moonwizard oh moonwizard, I summon thee.
Is modiphious waiting on user unofficial implementation or is there something official in the works like they seem to be suggesting.

Licenses of licenses are a challenge, and also anything that needs a new ruleset adds another layer of complexity. Those are likely best served by community rulesets and additions to MoreCore.

Yes, but seeing as modiphius are saying it is in development. Is this the case or not?

From today's Kickstarter update:
FANTASY GROUNDS - Implementation in progress - here's an update from the dev team: Main issues: Momentum & Doom totals don’t refresh when used by a player/gm. Damage Dice aren’t adding up when bonus damage is applied. Additionally, the following items are well underway: Conan Player’s Guide. Approx 2/3rds of the text is there. This week we’ll be building out: Talents, Equipment List, Beasties & Bad Guys, The Wheel of Pain (Character Generator). You can currently create a core rulebook-level character and export it to the ruleset. In a few days we’ll test out building some of the other archetypes with it.

It's down to using some half functioning community ruleset or nothing. I'd just find a different game to play....

Yeah, it is a joke
"I anticipate, with everything going smoothly, we're a couple of months away from releasing the rule set"
... that was what... four months ago?
"I'm afraid I don't have any significant news to report. We're still negotiating with Fantasy Grounds on the agreement. A current priority is to drive the Wave 3 books to completion."
And this was from a bit over 1 month ago.
I would love confirmation from Smiteworks on whether they are actually in some weird limo of discussions or whether Modiphius is just blowing smoke and tarnishing SW's reputation as a means of distracting the backers.

I have had friendly emails with Chris Birch and Sam of Modiphius and we would be happy to get an agreement in place for distribution if they have a ruleset available and ready for release. As far as I know, I don't think there are any pending negotiations. They just need to sign the agreement I provided for them in May 2019. There were no issues raised to me about the terms we gave them.
I have not seen the ruleset at all. They were working with a developer who has never delivered a finished ruleset to us for commercial release. Separate from the Publisher Agreement is that we need to run the ruleset through a basic quality control pass. This would be secondary to their own internal reviews.

Yea, I bought the rule book thinking something was going to be released. That was money wasted.... Should have known better. And I have zero interest in using Morecore to play anything on FG.

They probably failed to pull it off and don't want to take responsibility for it. Modiphius, not Smite Works.

Latest KS update:
"As for Fantasy Grounds, the development team are testing it at the moment, and we’ll let you know as soon as we have more updates on it!"
This fills me with great joy! Almost as much as seeing my enemies writhing before me... But it's close...

Lol, I will believe it when I see it. They have outwardly posted incorrect information in the past like saying they were waiting on smiteworks.
And that it was just around the corner.

No arguments there, but the end goal for them should be to eventually profit from sales. And the only way that will happen is for them to release it. Hopefully, the mod set will be well-designed as a result of these delays.

It's posted on the Star Trek Adventures posts. That'll be the next Modiphius FG release. Apologies but can't link right now but search the forums using the keyword Conan and you'll see it.

No guarantees obviously but how long does testing typically take (once you get it of course)? Trying to calendar my group's games... Any estimate is helpful...

I have no specific knowledge...
A couple of weeks to never?
If things go through in the first pass then a couple of weeks seems reasonable. But if it has to go back for corrections then it could be a couple of weeks for the changes to be done and then another approval cycle and then another rejection and then the IP holder decides they don't want to do it anymore and it never happens.
I think SmiteWorks is pretty careful to not put time estimates on things, there are just too many variables and things they don't control. So until everything is in their control (the last couple of days) they usually just never say.
ProfDogg
February 7th, 2020, 03:04
That seems reasonable. Even after it drops, it'll take me about a week to load my campaign material. So I figure maybe another month tops till were playing, assuming the QA passes quickly enough. That's working under the assumption that Modiphius is motivated enough of course to respond quickly. The developer seems responsive enough on their boards which gives me hope.

Rulesets are non-typical, so it really depends upon how good and thorough the ruleset dev is. I don't think we can make any assumptions from one dev to another.

Does anyone know if the other Modiphius 2d20 games are going to be coming now that the ruleset's working? I'm figuring that licensing issues will likely keep Star Trek out of FG, but it can't be too hard to swing Mutant Chronicles, John Carter, or Infinity.

I suspect Infinity is a beast of an IP to get it done, considering how difficult it was for the editing.

I'm frankly surprised they were able to get the rights for doing Star Trek, though I suppose since Disney isn't involved it's probably much more attainable than Star Wars.

The store entry linked is not a public page at this point - its's a placeholder so the devs can review any final changes and then quickly push it live when the product become available. Any data in that page can change, and usually does change, before release.

From what I understand, it is much much easier to get licensing for Disney IPs than it is for an IP that is jointly owned by Viacom/CBS. The reason why there have been so many different Star Trek RPGs, and why they fall off the map so often, is because the IP holder is both difficult to work with and wants more royalties than makes sense for the developer.
That said, I do very much like Modiphius's products and I hope that STA and the 2d20 rules gain in popularity and that Modiphus continues to turn a profit with this game (assuming they are) for a long time.
