Can you use a map without a grid?

I'm converting an adventure from a pdf, and while most of the maps are fine, in some of them it's distorted somewhat, so that it's impossible to put a grid that looks neat. If I left the grid off but locked tokens, would that work?

If all your tokens are the same scale it should be ok.
Im not sure about locking token movement as I really dont use that.
Personally I would use the misaligned grid.

Yes, use the misaligned grid. It will work without a grid but not as well as if you have one.
