Ideally I am looking for a Low to medium power game where actions have consequences and NPCs are not going to be ok with a Bugbear walking around their town. I'm not completely against players as unusual races occasionally but there has to be balance and realistic responses to it. I love DMs who have some restrictions because not everything that WotC puts out is very balanced or realistic. Firearms are not D&D.
I have been playing on and off since the 80s but I have not played much in the last 15 years. Table top games in person are not really an option as I live in a very small town. I'm very eager to play again but searching for a group on roll20 is like looking for a job, 1 slot open and 20 people all want it. I got into one group as a replacement player I found on Roll20 and the GM rage quit after one session because some other player(s) didn't show up for the game. I am familiar with 5e and pathfinder from reading the material as well as watching dozens of online sessions.
How I define power/fantasy levels
Low - Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones,
Medium - Forgotten Realms/Dragon Lance/Grayhawk/Dark Sun/Mystra Campaign
High - Magic shops in every town, Parties made up of more than one non-core races, cheap ressurection from any church, low level characters with bags of holding - vorpal weapons or other extremely powerful stuff lev 4 characters would never have access to. Unicorn or Nightmare mounts for everyone.
