I purchased the ultimate ed, for our group to start playing. When my friends download the demo version, and they create characters, does it save the character sheets? I did not know with the demo if they would have to create new character sheets every time.

Yes, it will save on their computer (which they can access after the game through 'Manage Characters'), and it will also be saved on your campaign.

Welcome to the forums!

If the player with the demo is creating their PC locally, they will need to use the "Manager Characters" functionality. This will save the PC in manage characters locally and will allow them to upload the PC to the GM's campaign when they connect to the GM to play.

If they connect to the GM's campaign they can create/edit the PC while connected to the GM, this will save the character on the GM's computer (in the campaign data). The player will have a read-only copy available for review locally through the Manage Characters -> Campaign functionality.
