Getting started with Demo

I have no idea on how to create a character, I am on old school D&D player but am lost. I would like to create a character and join a group is this even possible with just the demo? Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums. What RPG system are you interested in?

With the demo version you can create a character (through the Manage Characters option in FG) and you can join a game with a GM who has an ultimate license. You just won't be able to purchase and use any of the encrypted DLC - like the 5E PHB, Pathfinder Core Rules, etc. you'll have to manually enter the information yourself.
