View Full Version : Issues connecting with new computer

So I have been running FG for many months now, never had any issues connecting with my main computer, or even using my Surface laptop or second computer. They all connect without any issue, and players can connect to my games without issue. I only ever use one of the systems at a time, so it's not a license conflict issue.

I recently bought a new system (MSI Trident 3 with a GTX 1060, windows 10), and installed and updated FG on it. But this time players could not connect, and my test connection from the start menu failed as well. I don't think it's a modem issue, as I went back to my other computer and everything worked fine.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? I know this may not be much info to go on, but I'm at a loss. I assume it's something with the settings on the new computer, but I tried for about 30 minutes and couldn't figure anything out. Any help would be appreciated, as I would like to start using this new computer as my main FG platform.

I'd be available tomorrow evening (EST) is someone wants to chat me through it.

Thanks,
Don

Also, the new computer was connected wirelessly, while the others were wired. My Surface was also wireless.

Sounds like the port forwarding is still going to your old computer; probably need to re-do that.

I think I figured it out, looks like I had my network settings on the new computer set to public. I set it to private and the test connections came back as a success. I'll try having someone connect to a game to confirm.

That would do it.
