View Full Version : What is the best way to start with FG?

Hello fellow members,

I am new to FG and would like to know where should i start with FG.
also what do i need in order to use the 5th edition rules and create adventures?
Is there a way i can spectate game sessions to learn?
sadly i could not find a group to join, even to a one shot.

Check out Fantasy Grounds College they can and will get you started with the basics and have other classes that go through building characters to Dm'ing.

What times are you available? I have a Tuesday game that starts at about noon US Central time that you are welcome to sit in and observe. Be aware though, we do not use voice, its a text chat only game using the chat window feature in Fantasy Grounds.

noon is around 19:00pm here is i think i will manage to join and spectate.
interested to know why are you using text over voice chat?

Many groups use chat since they like to roleplay more and feel that chatting gives more scope for interesting dialogue options rather than just continually saying I'm rolling to hit and such like. Also some people are wanted criminals and don't want their voices to be recognised :)

(I may have made that last bit up)

Do you use Discord? I can send you an invite and you can get the connection information and time from there.

Sounds good. Even though Discord is a voice client, we mainly use the text part of it to keep everyone informed between sessions, to announce when the server is up and to make sure everyone can connect before the session. The server is up now.
