View Full Version : Resolution?

I was looking at some of the screenshots that people have posted and i've noticed that they have much more room than i do. This might be due to an increased resolution. However, my problem is that my Thinkpad R51 screen doesn't allow me to go past 1024x856 (or whatever). Is there a way to simulate higher resolution in-game with some kind of command line or code?

Your screen resolution limits are simply that: limits. FG will compensate by squeezing elements to fit your screen. Things should work fine for you, you will just have to move things around more on your screen (get used to using the minimize function to get things out of your way).

I normally run on a 1024x768 screen, but I increase it slightly during FG sessions so that I can fit more on the screen. It can make a big difference if you're sloppy like me and have a lot of info up there:)

Yeah, I've been thinking about getting a better video card just so I can do that.

Man, a dual monitor setup would be IDEAL!

rvIt really does make a difference having two monitors. I could never go back to using just one.

Yes, I use dual monitors at work (as well as a 3rd monitor on another system off to the side AND a laptop. I have to watch a lot of stuff. :) )

I just can't swing that kind of cost at home. Some day.

I run my sessions on my laptop at 1680x1050 and I still want more room.

It's also about your monitor. You may have a superb high end class graphics card, but you also have to have a monitor capable of displaying such high resolutions. For example, 17'' monitors are best suited for 1024x768 resolution, they can go higher, but at an expense of poor refresh rate, which sucks. If you want to have better resolutions go for 19'', 21'' or more - although, I haven't used a monitor bigger than 19'' myself. ;)

These days if you have a more or less new video card the monitor is the problem. You might check it's maximum resolution. You can hurt your monitor now if the video card tries to put it in a higher resolution than it can handle.

I personably switch into 1280x1024 when I run FG.These days if you have a more or less new video card the monitor is often the problem. You might check it's maximum resolution. You can hurt your monitor now if the video card tries to put it in a higher resolution than it can handle.

Since you have a Thinkpad, I think you're pretty much stuck with that. Unless you hook up an external monitor to it.

I feel your pain. At 2048x1536, on a 20" visible area monitor, I still can't seem to get everything I want up without overlapping something.
