Abilities in combat

When a player wants to use an ability, like rage for instance, do they use the modifiers @ the bottom left or is there a way for the program to add it on to their roll?

For what ruleset? You can set up effects to handle all sorts of things such as the Barbarians rage but we'll need the ruleset before we can point you in the right direction. If I assume 5e here's the link to the effects page (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_Effects) on the Wiki. If you scroll down far enough you'll find the effect for Barbarian Rage, but you should read the entire page; and again if it is for 5e you should probably also have a look at these videos (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?41478-Effects-Videos-for-5E).
