This is just a very quick announcement to let people know of the official dates for FG Con 12.

It will be Friday the 13th (oooooohhhhhh) April to Sunday 15th. Starting around 5pm New Zealand time on the Friday and ending around midnight Hawaii time on the Sunday - over 72 hours of gaming.

So, block out that weekend... Get your game(s) on! :)

GM Event entry is now open. Player registration will start Friday March 23rd, 12 noon UTC 0 - so you have 4 weeks to get your events submitted!

We hope to have offical support for various organized play campaigns - details to come.

A few things to keep in mind for FG Con:
1) Run the games using Fantasy Grounds, and the “live” setting. The GM should have a minimum of a GM/Standard license - SmiteWorks upgrade Standard/GM licenses to Ultimate for the period of the convention. With a standard license you can GM any players for the convention - with or without licenses.
2) Run each session in a designated time slot - the length and start time is up to you. Keep to this time slot to allow players the chance to take part in as many events as possible - try to start on time and don't overrun!
3) Use the FG Con website and event booking system. You can advertise events elsewhere (we encourage that), but all event listings and player booking have to be through the FG Con site. GMs are required to enter their own events so that they have full access to player bookings for review and communication. GMs are required to communicate with their players for pre-event confirmation and coordination.
4) Use the FG Con designated Discord server for in-session communications.
5) Only run games during the weekend of Friday 13th – Sunday 15th April.
6) Abide by the instructions and directions of the FG Con admin team.

Am working on logistics of Discord right now.
A much as I prefer Teampseak there is far more traffic on the FG Discord server and will likely be overall easier to utilise that resource.

I am in a few weekly games that use Discord and FG, and I have so much less trouble with it than I did with TeamSpeak.

Discord... Yeah, so not always the best way to communicate. A few things I'd like to mention about 'it'. Since I started FGC here are some things to keep in mind or use for troubleshooting.
1. Quite often folks try to plugin USB audio devices while Discord is already active. This causes issues with audio. A user has to make sure their headset is already plugged into their machine prior to firing up Discord, or they must reboot the Discord app session.
2. Since not everyone is privy to the fact that Discord permissions can require 'Push to Talk' to use the specific rooms or sections setup that way. Sometimes I even forget this fact. This is done to enforce an etiquette to help reduce background noise during a lesson or gaming session. This will be confusing to a new user initially.
3. Common things such as wireless headsets low on batteries, a server-wide outage, windows/mac audio settings out of place or even muted. Trying to use an old headset that has 'frayed' or broken wires, and the extreme examples are; users not even having their headset plugged in, the jack pulled away from the audio port, incorrect port (Mic vs headphones) used;an inline mute button or volume control setting is active.

I also prefer Teamspeak, and actually have connection issues with Discord every now and then. If it will be strictly Discord, I don't think I will run anything this time. It's not nice when Discord doesn't send what I'm saying, but if I'm the GM, that would be extra annoying.

Edit: sorry I brought Discord/Teamspeak up again, Trenloe. I just failed to notice there's a second page to this thread.

Correct.

But it is up to the individual GMs when they run their events within these times - you'll find the core is North American times Friday through to Saturday night. For organized play the relevant admins try to get more fixed time slots - so that organized play sessions for a specific RPG system don't overlap, giving players a better chance of maximizing their gaming - but that is up to the relevant admins.

Any DM running a game during FG-Con can use these for free and be guilt free about it (they are all pay what you want, but DM's running FG-Con games and using any of these can pay nothing and I encourage that as a "reward" for running the games for others.

Folks - am I doing something wrong or is there just a slight time delay as GM Events are approved? I submitted an Event Friday afternoon, it's still Pending; I only ask because this happened to me for FGCon 11 and my Event never got listed and thus never happened.

It is a requirement that all events for FG Con are posted on the FG Con website and use the event management system on there. You can advertise any events on external websites for publicity purposes, but all events (and the associated bookings) must be on the FG Con website. If it's not on the FG Con website then it's not part of FG Con.

Event registration isn’t enable for you event. Please follow the GM event submission guidelines - download the document found here: https://www.fg-con.com/information/gm-guidelines/

Make all changes you need to the event now. Because if you make any changes once approved the event will change to pending and we will need to review and publish again.

We have a lot of events to review and publish and it takes time for the admins to review.

I can see you've set your time zone correctly.

There does appear to be an issue with the site not realizing you're logged in fully, so it can't read your time zone.

Awesome dragonheels, I wish I could be in your game, however my French sheerly sucks. Savage Mojo has several more games that will be posting in the next few weeks as well, we are currently on target to have a half-dozen games running this FG-Con, possibly more. We can also be found on Discord most days for any who want to give this a try, just contact me and I will work with you for whatever you need including arranging the comp Suzerain module, and about anything else you would need to be up and running.

The issue was when the site went to unsecured HTTP. We've forced the site to use secure HTTP (HTTPS) and so this issue should be resolved.

A reminder to all GMs yet to add or finalise their events - Players will be able to book onto published events from 12:00 GMT this coming Friday (23rd March).

Whereas you can add your event for a couple of weeks after this time, it is way better to have your event listed by this coming Friday - it will give you the best chance of filling your event with players and it will reduce players swapping events later.

All GMs, please double check that the start time is correct for your time zone - make sure you have the correct time zone selected at the bottom of your profile page, and view your event in from the event list - is it showing the correct local time for you? You'd be amazed how many events suddenly have their times changed as it wasn't originally entered correctly.

I added an event 5e Rappan Athuk Mouth of Doom. It is Friday morning my time and I skewed the start time 1 hour (end time is the same) as I am only available that morning and I am not starting 6 AM my time. :-p

Hiya rexx its pretty much the same process to post games. The big difference is all games will use the Fantasy Grounds Discord server this time around.
Player registrations open in about 5 or 6 hours so its best to get you games uploaded by the end of the weekend to get as much expose as possible.

As damned says - bookings are now open!

We have over 60 events - with a few more to be added over the course of the next few days.

Get in while you can - some events are already nearly full!

GMs - remember that we leave it up to you to accept booking requests for your games. So please check your emails and accept bookings as appropriate - you should get a booking email for each player request. Also please check your events for comments - this is the main way players can ask questions about your event.

We have a count internally to the event system for admins. But not on the main site.

If you're desperate to know you can count the rows in the event list! ;)

Trenloe, the email I just received states to use Discord now. But, I just noticed the website (such as looking at the Event List) still lists the Teamspeak information on the left side.

I know Myrdin, right up there with having one of the people who write the material you are running (and largely rewriting) sign in to your game. Anyway, all six Savage Mojo games have posted now, some are filling fast, but we have a broad range of choices and plenty of room, especially daytime games. Some of the GM's have never run Savage worlds or Suzerain before so I encourage any of you to support some new Savage Worlds GM's.

Trying to add my event, how do I select a maximum number of players? I can set the minimum, but I don't see anywhere to set the max, and When I look at the preview, it is showing 0 spots available ( I assume because the maximum player count is set to 0 as well).

Ok, I did that, and followed the pdf guidelines, and still when I click the preview, on the preview it still says the maximum players is 0, and 0 spots available. Is that something that changes after the event is approved, or am I doing something wrong still?

Enable booking/registrations is checked. Spaces are set to 5 in both the ticket editor and event options. Still says max players 0 and available 0 in the event preview. What am I missing?

Press "Save Draft" before you click Preview?

You need to actually save the event entry for anything to be written to the event database.

Ho good people - FG Con is on in 3 days time.
Stacks of games running - over 350 player bookings so far.
Come and join in the fun.
D&D is definitely the king this time around but soe other great sessions too including Savage Worlds, Pathfinder and more.

Reminder to GMs

Try not to make changes to your event at this point - unless you absolutely have to. Even changing a little bit of text in the description causes the event to be put in Pending mode and removed from the event list. It can take the FG Con admins a few hours to review and re-publish your event - during which time no new people can sign up, or existing players think it might have disappeared.

If you need to impart an update or some useful info - put it in the comments.

Thanks to all GMs for running events at FG Con 12. GM event submission ends today (Tuesday 10th).

This is a more technical question about Discord.

Are we, as GMs, to create our own discord space or should be using a game channel or what? I was going to send a message to players, but I don't know exactly what to say.

Please remember that all games will run on the Fantasy Grounds Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VKbhkSt
Make sure you have followed and accepted that invitation yourselves before-hand.

From Thursday you will have permission to create your own Voice channel under the FG CON Game Channels heading.



And your name (required) and if room you can add a few words to describe your session name (not required)
Set the channel to Voice, do not select Private and then click Create Channel
You can create a sub-channel within this one for private discussions with individual players if needed


If you remember to please delete your channel once it is no longer required (they will all be cleaned up post the Con anyway if you forget).
