Assassinate, critical damage effect

Does it have any effect that makes the next damage critical? For example, when a assassin hits an attack on a surprised creature, how do you make the damage critical due the assassinate feature?

Hold down shift when you roll damage.

Isn't their also a critical effect in the effects list? Also, one of my players has a seperate damage rolls for normal and crit.

But, I think the easiest way is what MP says, hold down shift :)

The Critical button is in the modifier window, but shift is easier.
