Benefits to the players:
1. Access to content to build characters even if they cannot afford official source texts. (Content is from the SRD under the OGL, DanDwiki under GNU, and Incarnate Gaming's own additions.)
2. Access to pre-done effect coding for feats, abilities, and items to save them having to learn the proper FG syntax.
3. Pre-done skill coding for instruments, artisan's tools, and a few other items which commonly have skill checks
4. Starting equipment lists with item summaries and links to quickly add their choices.
5. Pre-written flavor items for 59 backgrounds that they can then tweak to their liking.
Benefits to GMs:
1. Over 3,000 tables
2. Random NPC generator customize-able to force or prioritize class, race, background, CR, and/or subrace. This generator populates not only the basic information but also detailed information such as Personality, Ideal, Bond, Flaw, weapon attacks, skills gained by class and archetype.
3. Random City generator that includes government, buildings (with npcs as above), key features, population, and much much more.
4. Random dungeon generator with several different types.
5. Random Loot Tables (Incarnate-5Forge is linked to include almost 300,000 magical items)
6. Several new bosses with foreshadowing to hint at their presence in the dungeon, and suggested flavor text to use during the battle.
7. More content will continue to be added if the community responds well to this project.
8. Hundreds of maps. If your players have the modules as well then there will be no loading time (and since they are freely available there is no excuse for them to not download them in advance).

CoreRPG functionality (https://www.incarnategamingllc.com/download/#CoreRPG) for 3 main modules, 1 extension and dozens of additional empty world maps (https://www.incarnategamingllc.com/maps/). 5e functionality https://www.incarnategamingllc.com/download/#5e for 3 main modules and an extension.
Legal: For those wondering about IP violation. These modules contains data from the SRD (with product identity scrubbed) according to the terms of the OGL. The download page provides a copy left version of this content. It also contains some re-balanced content from DanDwiki under the GNU. The original content has a copy left version included on the website as a separate download https://www.incarnategamingllc.com/download/#CopyLeft. Those are the only two outside sources this pulls from, the rest is original content licensed to Incarnate Gaming L.L.C. and released under the Incarnate General License https://www.incarnategamingllc.com/incarnategenerallicense/. This license was specifically written with digital distribution in mind and allows things like linking (1g) and reviews (1h), clauses not found in the OGL.

I know that some of this will need re-balanced as it is being play-tested. Any opinions on things that need redone so far?
Update: a huge thank you to all the volunteer GMs and players over in the Explorer's Guild https://explorers-guild.github.io/ who have been playtesting not just the Incarnate System, but also its cross-compatibility (and sometimes lack there of) with other 5e content. It has been a pleasure working with you guys and fixing the problems as we have found them. A special call out to our master min/maxer Yasuragi who has repeatedly found beautiful ways to break the game and has had great suggestions on how to fix it.

New Version:
2_1_006: I've now added a bunch of pregens using the data from the engine. Next Update will have improvements to the dungeon generator. Any requests for specific updates? Let me know what you want.
2_1_007: Added redone dungeons. Can now generate a 5 chamber (pretty good for a 4 hour 1 shot) dungeon with a single click. I've begun to redo the city generator to allow for generation of cities by districts. This is a work in progress, but more will be coming.

Can I just add here that ProNobis has added some support for NPC Engineer to the NPC part of his opus. You will find an input translator for Incarnate in NPC Engineer too, but I believe he has changed the output to make the translator obsolete - the output text from Incarnate is already perfect for parsing. I'm not trying to hijack his thread here; I'm just pointing out that there is some interoperability between our tools should anyone wish to use them in conjunction. The addition of 'mythology' and 'terrain' sorting options were at the direct request of ProNobis to allow more flexibility for his system.
Having seen what his system can do at an earlier stage, I have to say it is astonishing and I was glad to be able to offer any support I could.
Well done, sir!

Please specify the ruleset(s) this is for. Don't have us waste our time if this is 5e only.

Bidmaron, I do not know. Most of the power of the module is in tables and story templates that are supposed to work in other rulesets. I hear a rumor of a mod that lets you open up modules from other rulesets. If you have any information on it I will gladly try it out and post what I find. I suspect that it will properly generate most lore based things, but that links to items, spells, feats, etc. will probably not work properly. Eventually, if there is enough demand, I could see doing a version designed to work fully in all rulesets, but that will take a good amount of time to research how to do and to modify the tables so that it does not generate any links to things not in all rulesets.
Zacchaeus found it: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?41034-Universal-Module-Extension Quick testing shows that it is at least partially compatible with 3.5 and 4. The lore based features seem fully functional. The only drawback is that some 5e material is available through links and there did not seem to be any warnings when clicking on them. It would be possible to accidentally add unbalanced material into another ruleset through such a mistake.
Bidmaron, did you have a specific ruleset in mind? It is available for free download (although a tip would be nice) so you don't have anything to loose by trying.

Maasq, NPC Engineer is amazing. I plan to use it when launching into the next phase... the full SRD bestiary with augmentations from Roman, Greek, Norse, Celtic, and other mythologies to expand it to be able to handle high level play. I already have designed a system of tables that will be able to either call premade encounters by terrain type and CR, or generate a truly random encounter based on summing npc xp (I know this is imperfect, but am unsure if there is any better way to do it short of forcing people to use an extension, something I would prefer to avoid. you can find the NPC Engineer here: https://www.masq.net/

Sounds very intriguing, ProNobis. I play PF, but mainly I was just asking so people who don't do 5e won't waste their time. The links probably won't work in other rulesets.

Bidmaron, at least in 3.5 and 4 my test showed that the links still work, pulling from embedded data. So the issue is not with the links working, but with them pulling in data that may be out of balance. Flavor items could work well still, and the main goal is not with the linked items, but with the generated lore.
Could you please test it in pathfinder? Thank you!

Just ran my own test on pathfinder, lore based generation is perfect. Items seem to work as well (but may have huge balance problems). the maps (Incarante-BattleMaps) seem to be perfect. Errors pop up on trying to open: races, npcs, spells, and backgrounds with little to no useful content (the bosses still have their combat flavor text but the stats don't come through properly).
Verdict: Incarnate-Engine can be used with pathfinder for lore based generation. It should be used by the GM only to minimize confusion. It can still generate cities, buildings, npcs, and dungeon descriptions, but all embedded links (other than possibly items) should be ignored. When it generates stats, those stats will likely be incomplete and imbalanced as they are for a different system. The mapping modules such as Incarante-BattleMaps are fully functional within Pathfinder and I should probably code them to appear in all core-rpg rulesets (Consists of only maps and tables to randomly call those maps.)

To make sure I understand this correctly, the license agreement for Incarnate (clause 2.a) means that the content generated by this can not be used for commercial purposes. Correct or am I misreading the license agreement?

To make sure I understand this correctly, the license agreement for Incarnate (clause 2.a) means that the content generated by this can not be used for commercial purposes. Correct or am I misreading the license agreement?
The relevant sections you are looking for are probably sections 2.g and 2.i:
"(g) Linking. Licensee may link to the Code in other works for both personal and commercial use.
(h) Reviews. Licensee may write or record reviews and tutorials for the Code on the internet or in print as long as such reviews and tutorials do not teach people how to (i) create products like the Code or (ii) replace the Code.
(i) Generated Material. The Licensee may use Generated Material for commercial use if, and only if, the links that are placed in the generated material are maintained. This means that works using Generated Material will require the presence of the Code to be fully usable."
I'm afraid that I am not allowed to give legal advise, so I cannot give any advice here and this is not to be taken as legal advise. The way I understand it is that it is a you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. You can link to it or use generated content that has links, in either case in order to use your product fully they will also need to have the relevant product from Incarnate.
If you want to use the content while embedding the content so that there are no links to outside products we will need a separate agreement... which will have to be drafted by a lawyer at $250 per hour of his time. If you have questions where you want a legally binding official response I can direct you to my lawyer, but that advice will be at the price of $250 per hour of his time.
(Sorry for the vague response, but I don't fully understand what the lawyer wrote and the whole process of creating the LLC and those documents was very expensive. I cannot afford to say anything that would compromise his work setting it up.)

I appreciate it and get the part about legal advice. From a non-legal point of view, I will say the part you quoted seems to contradict or at least confuse the earlier part;
"(a) Grant of License. With the exception of Third Party Content as addressed below, the Program, including text, photographs, images, graphics, designs, trademarks, audio, video, games, applications, items, software and files is proprietary of Licensor. Licensor hereby grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferrable, non-sublicensable, and fully revocable license to use the Program on your Device solely for your personal, non-commercial, and entertainment use."
I appreciate where you are coming from. I will say that because the license isn't straight forward and simple to understand, that Incarnate is not something I would look to use in any commercial means . From a single author publisher point of view, if I have to consult with a lawyer to understand if I'm using a product legally, it's not worth using. I mean even if such consulting only took an hour, it would probably mean that most projects would cost more than ever would be earned, and that would not be a wise decision.
I will add, even though you haven't requested such, two pieces of advice to consider;
1) Simplify your license. Their is way too much "legal-ese" that will prevent people like me from using it.
2) Re-vamp your website. I've spent ~10 minutes on your website trying to figure out what Incarnate does and have tried watching your intro video. I still really have no idea what it does or why I might want to use it. IMO, a prospective user needs to be able to start to understand within a minute of going to your site what it is and does. I will say Birdmaron apparently "gets it", but there are bound to be many others like me that don't. And we are all potential users you are losing out on.
Good luck with it though, I'm all for more people being able to make more professional tools and such.

But Birdmaron, what does it do? That's what I don't get. Is it a bunch of tables? That do what? Give room descriptions? Is it a bunch of generators like donjon.bin.sh? What format does it "export" in? And it's an application to install not an online tool? I know I'm dense sometimes, and impatient at others, but after 3 minutes of an intro video and learning nothing and another 5+ minutes of cruising the website I couldn't figure it out.

It is an FG module that is a bunch of tables. If you are a 5e guy (and even if you aren’t for a lot of it if you use universal modules extension) it is really a Godsend for a harried GM. Their web site I think describes it very well.

While I did not take a deep dive into this project, I did load up his modules for Incarnate (just like any 5e module) and take it for a spin after watching this video below.
YouTube: Incarnate - Engine - NPC Generation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VabcQ67BujU&list=LLvIBmy0iV1Mlv8tat7oj5Iw)
As Lord Entrails is suggesting, I too found myself wondering what this module did and how it was relevant to me as a player and as a prospective DM at first. I had to skip through several videos after viewing the Introduction video to further understand what Incarnate was and did. But I was curious and it did pay off (it is impressive!)
The advertising hook has roughly 30 seconds or less to succeed. Think Elevator Pitch.
The average attention span of an adult today is two to three minutes.
The legalese summary needs to be written in layman's terms for initial terms of use.
Detailed legalese is often buried post summary, the 100+ pages everyone normally skips (heheh).
I am a regular guy, excited about his work and what it portends (ad-hoc dm'ing on demand). I am not affiliated with ProNobis, not receiving anything for endorsing his work.
A light bulb went off in my head of how much this module author would/could benefit when I recalled his FGDaze oneshot of Undermountain I recently played in. During this oneshot, the author described his goal of DM'ing the entirety of Undermountain with its thousands of encounters and rooms. The different factions that war beneath, it was incredible the detail that would need to spent flushing this all out. His module was the first thing that came to mind as soon as I watched ProNobis' NPC Generation youtube video.
It showed how not only could Incarnate generate any random amount of NPC's, but one could generate custom, filtered list of anything pretty much, from npcs and encounters, dungeons, bosses, buildings, rooms, etc. The module is expansive, in progress and constantly updated. I could go on ad-nauseum but as they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Hi guys, just to clarify, I'm a geek, not a marketing expert. I'm doing my best, and the response says that the product is standing on its own, not my awful marketing. That being said, it would be a huge help if someone made a video talking about why they think it is cool and what it does. If you gave me permission I would gladly post that on my landing page, as I am well and truly awful at that type of stuff.
As for the legal stuff... I'm going to ask for it to be tweaked to be a hair easier, and also for a summary I can post at the top with an appropriate disclaimer. Hopefully those who want to use it commercially will be patient enough to give us a couple weeks to look into and hopeful implement this. We have to have such a long and near bullet proof legal section because of one of the major publishers track records for being sue happy. I highly recommend that any independent publisher hire a lawyer to look over all agreements you sign with a publisher and draft the same for anything you release yourself. You should look for trick clauses in agreements like having in one place "The author maintains intellectual property for everything submitted" and in another "you give a perpetual non-revocable license to create derivative products" and in yet another "we do not guarantee keeping track of original authorship in derivative products". I found similar clauses to this in the agreement for one of the major publishers in this market. In layman terms this means that they can legally change one line of your product, call it a derivative, and sell it independently of the original without giving you any attribution or compensation. Although I doubt they will, they legally can. Again, I am not a lawyer, but finding these clauses I highly recommend hiring one and not trusting that just because someone is big that they will be fair.

Here is a crazy idea for you... What if I downsize my own video on the landing page to be something tiny, and have the bulk of the landing page be linking videos from other people on their YouTube pages. I will probably sort them into Positive reviews at the top, Neutral reviews in the middle (think old school reporting, just the facts no opinions), and Negative reviews at the bottom. If you are interested in having a video on my landing page, feel free to make one that meets the following requirements: 1) You have downloaded at least Incarnate-Engine and are demonstrating it. 2) the video is family friendly, no profanity, no sexual references, no drug or alcohol references (the target audience goes all the way down to introverted home-school students in middle school, so please keep it G) 3) the video is of a reasonable quality. If we cannot see the screen share or hear what you are saying then I will not link to it. 4) you post a link here with something like "Incarnate Gaming LLC has permission to link to my video (weblink here) on their website"
Essentially this means that I will setup the landing page to be a vote from the users on what they think about it and what they like about it. I will only embed the best five of each category, but may list links to others. What do you guys think of this idea?

I too really struggled to do a quick 1-2 minutes "what is this?" scan of the website.
For example, "Fantasy Grounds" isn't even mentioned on the main page. I really struggled to grasp what it was and was very confused with terminology. A lot of people might browse this at work and maybe they can't watch a video.
The top of the main page should give people very important info in a glance.
I'd recommend a few bullet points at the top. Something along the lines of:
Fantasy Grounds VTT module that contains over 2,000 rollable tables....
(brief info on what the tables can provide)
Designed for the Fantasy Grounds 5E ruleset, but can provide (brief list of universal data) information for CoreRPG based rulesets.
Makes populating a dungeon/campaign world a snap! (or whatever you want to say).
Free to download, but we ask you tip our developers if you find the product useful.

I'm afraid that this has not been officially endorsed by Fantasy Grounds, so I cannot use their logo and have tried to not reference them whenever I could not (as requested by Smiteworks in their mass email a couple months ago). I would gladly add more direct information, and even direct links to the Fantasy Grounds website, but by my understanding of their stance on outside sources I cannot do this without their approval.
That being said I'm about to add as much of what you said as I can.

IIf any of you know Doug, I would love to be able to have blatant links to the fantasy grounds website on the landing page, the download page and specifically say that these are .mod files for use in Fantasy Grounds a Virtual Table Top to play with your friends. The one time I did reach out I was told to publish through a specific publisher, but I did not agree with their terms of service so I had to refuse and create my own LLC.
I'd reach out to him again - now that he can see what you have in place it will probably help your discussions. Doug's very approachable and I don't think any of us who know him could help any discussions you need to have with him - sorry.

The lawyer has gone over it and simplified it as much as he is comfortable with. Paragraph 1a has been revised as requested. I would like to point out the bulk of the license is in just the first 5 pages, the rest are definitions (I think they are common sense terms, but if they are not defined then an opposing lawyer can apply all sorts of strange meanings to common words) and appendices. I would like to point out that this license is far simpler than those of Microsoft, Google, and the like. We all agree to these types of licenses all the time, and few if any have a summary section at the top. From my limited understanding, a summary section can compromise the integrity of the document and my lawyer has strongly recommended against it.
If you still feel that you cannot agree to the license after those changes, then I regret that you should not use it.

All good, I'm not planning on going anywhere soon.
In other news, I just updated both modules and posted a new one. Incarnate-Forge has over 20,000 procedurally generated items with effect coding. It requires Incarnate-Engine to function and should be a GM only module. It is written for 5e, and will be unbalanced for all other rulesets. It should be noted that I "hid" the items so that they do not overload your item tab on the right. They can be accessed through the links in the library (in the lower right pane when you are in Incarnate-Forge in the lower left), or by rolling on the tables. These tables are automatically linked into loot generation with Incarnate-Engine so if you do not have Incarnate-Forge open it will not be able to give you most of the possible magical armor and weapons.
We have had one "review" so far. I recommend against doing a live stream when you are first figuring out what all it can do. I would compare that to buying two or three published content books and doing a live stream as you try to figure out what is in them. If you do wish to do this, I highly recommend ignoring the Reference Manual as it mainly holds the "copy left" version of the SRD and DanDwiki content (a legal requirement in their licenses, not designed to be helpful). Rather, start off with the cheat sheets which give the most common commands that GMs will want, or try to build a character and to see the added automation that is meant to help your players. While building content characters you will notice that some have lots of archetypes and others have only the default one. More is coming, I'm just trying to prioritize on getting more archetypes and all of the other functions that GMs will want.

I'm a bit burned out of xml, so for at least a couple of days, maybe even a week, I'm going to focus on maps. Hopefully I can get Penolia ready to release to the general public. Hopefully I can also fill out a bunch of terrain, city, and district maps for battlemaps. If you have suggestions, feel free to post them then vote them up here: https://incarnategaming.github.io/voteNow/

Just launched Incarnate-Penolia with major additions to Incarnate-BattleMaps. These now have a combination of over 300 maps. Penolia is a lore empty world that you can set your own lore to. The Fantasy Ground College (not associated with Smiteworks) has been beta testing it and you can see some of what they have done with it here: https://explorers-guild.github.io/currentQuests.html, but feel free to make it your own. Thanks for the patience while I've been mapping for a couple of weeks. These modules should both be fully functional with all CoreRPG rulesets, however I do not yet know how to mark them as such so you will still need to use the Universal Modules extension.
If anyone can tell me how to mark them as CoreRPG instead of as 5e that would be hugely helpful. I still plan to convert these generators to other languages once I have stabilized the 5e version. Thank you for all of the Pathfinder requests, but with limited times and resources I want to wait until I have the 5e version stable as the conversion will be extremely intensive (at least weeks, and probably months).

Change the <ruleset> tag in the module definition.xml file to <ruleset>Any</ruleset>

Well if you need any beta testers, let me know

Thank you Trenloe, new versions were just uploaded that are now CoreRPG.
Erin, beta testers are great. The Fantasy Grounds College (not associated with Smiteworks) and especially the Explorer's Guild have been helping a lot with that so far. I know that they are very interested in launching a pathfinder section and have at least a couple of GMs who specialize in it. You can look them up here: https://discord.gg/Ew6nYyw
That being said, the next thing that will require dedicated beta testing, will be Incarnate-Battles, a 5e expanded bestiary with a table system that allows either pulling premade battles (by terrain and CR) or generation of premade battles (by terrain and CR). If it made it to the top of the priority list today, then this module would probably be released to beta testers in a month, and to the public in 2-4 months.

Is it likely that portions of this would work with Castles and Crusades?

Extremely likely. The sections marked as CoreRPG (Incarnate-Penolia, and Incarnate-Battlemaps) should be fully function with no other requirements.
Incarnate - Engine is largely a system of 2,000+ tables which should be functional if you are using the universal module extension: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?41034-Universal-Module-Extension
The few "incompatibilities" will be for stuff like the store front generator will populate with 5e items that may or may not exist in other rulesets. The links will open 5e versions of these items and as such should simply be ignored. That being said, most of it is designed to assist in general lore generation from cities to npcs to dungeons. Assuming Castles and Crusades has a medieval/fantasy feel to it these lore generators should be helpful to give you "broad brush strokes" that give you just enough to help when responding to players going rogue, or to help you build your world ahead of time.
Incarnate Forge is specifically about 5e items so no reason to attempt to use it.

What if I split the Incarnate-Engine into a core RPG and a 5e mod? The new Incarnate-Engine would be CoreRPG, but would also call some tables that do not exist within it (like race, adventuring items, etc.) then there would be a new mod say "Incarnate-Core-5e" that would have all the missing tables from the Engine as well as all of the 5e content it already has. I could then create and release a blank version of "Incarnate-Core" so that anyone who wishes could write a version of it for their own ruleset. Said modifications would be outside of the terms of the standard license so we would need to follow a different license agreement for those, probably very similar to the one I used to sign over my stuff to Incarnate Gaming.
Pros:
1) updating the Incarnate Engine would update all rulesets
2) would allow other community members to work on their favorite rulesets, getting new ones much faster
Cons:
1) a lot of existing links in 5e campaigns would be broken by the module split and renaming, this means a lot of characters would need to be either fixed and/or remade and a lot of content links (like loot, items, etc.) would need to be fixed as they are discovered.
What do you guys think?

The table results should link. Why would links be broken?
ProNobis

Links would be broken because of the renaming of the modules while splitting them. The new versions would have links that work, but links that have been placed by the old version would be broken.
The reason for the split is so that tables with links to rule specific items/classes/races/etc. could exist in rule specific modules.

New Version out. This new version has 8 new wizard schools (Defiled, Awaiting, Darkness, Purity, Re-composition, Stones, Tacticians, and Weaving) and a player cheat sheet that describes the 8 most common movements, 15 most common actions, 3 most common bonus actions, 2 most common interactions with objects, 5 miscellaneous categories and 2 assistants for pc point creation (1 rolls 1296 sided die to simulate rolling 4d6 and dropping lowest, the other gives the 3 most common point buy setups).
I created a vote section for splitting the engine apart with 5e content separate from the coreRPG stuff, but so far no one has voted for it. If you want me to invest time in this please vote it up https://incarnategaming.github.io/voteNow/proNobisNextProjects/. If you don't want me investing time on this project, please vote up or submit new ideas of what you do want me doing. Thank you guys for all of the support and advice on this project.

Another version is up.
It contains 2 pregenerated characters of each class for both level 1 and 3. Numerous other fixes. Added predone coding for Wildshapes and Polymorph including a way to change your statistics to match that of the monster as well as giving temporary hit points for the transformation and having ready to access attacks.
This version is remarkably stable and I do not plan on doing any more changes until after fg-con. The lead vote for future content is to split the Incarnate Engine into two parts. 1) Incarnate-Foundation will be CoreRPG 2) Incarnate-5eExpansion will have the 5e dependent content.
What do you guys want to see in each? Where do I draw the lines of separation? What should I call the two sections, I'm not a huge fan of those names.

I tend to release about 3 new versions per month. You can check the status of the project here: https://www.incarnategamingllc.com/demo/
The project is very very large by this time, but is not currently compatible with Fantasy Grounds. My attempts to get "authorized" (as required to by paragraph 5 of FG's Eula https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/faq.php?faq=fantasy_grounds_faq to be able to sell content) was stone walled and I eventually changed to releasing an e-book version (which has been approved copyright status by the Library of Congress) and optimizing my content for execution within a rival VTT. I still like FG and would be willing to release versions compatible with it if Smiteworks becomes willing to "authorize" me. For now I will honor their wishes and publish elsewhere.
