I haven't bought the program yet, but im seriously thinking about it.

The first question I have: is there games other then D&D being played on FG? ie. Shadowrun, or better yet World of Darkness.

Is everything chat/text based or do most use some form of voice chat?

I doubt seriously I'll ever DM anything. With that said is there any other reasons to get the full version versus the lite?

Any answers or advice on getting started will be greatly apperciated.

Thanks

DK

There appear to be lots of different games being run. Aside from D20 fantasy I've seen D20 Modern and Adventure (which looks like a WoD spin off), as well as the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay mod I just finished. I've seen Eberon, and a few more, but I don't have the rulesets for them yet. Someone was asking about Gurps, that would be interesting. A core Gurps mod and a ton of genre add ons. I'd love to run the "Gurps: Ice Age" source.

The program supports full chat functions (with emotes, ooc and the like), but I gather a lot of people use external chat programs like Skype and Ventrilo.

I think i saw someone post that they were working on World of Darkness stuff. If you know XML and feel up to it, you can pretty much alter the ruleset for anything. With the scripting coming in 1.06 it sounds like you can do a ton of extra stuff (I believe someone mentioned making Shadowrun style dice, but I can't recall the post).

The program includes text chat for everything, but my group at least uses Teamspeak for everything. We found it much, much easier to use it that way. Ventrillo and Skype are alternatives of course.

I think that if there's any little bit of doubt in your mind that you might do DM Stuff, I'd get the full version. Right now I don't believe there is an 'upgrade' of lite to full. The main difference is extra stuff on rule sets, init tracker, and the ability to make modules. If you're a PC only, it's not worth the extra money, but if you might, I think it'd save you money in the long run.
