Can't remember if I had to pull out myself or if I am still registered for the con slot...so it's not about 'my slot game btw, just seen games like this stuff con spots before...

Yeah, I see the risk. The intent is to provide another opportunity for anyone who is not able to make the session during the Con. I would hope that people would choose the Con slot over this session if they have the choice, but obviously I can't force that behavior.
