Hi all,
Does anyone run their FG instance in an EC2 VPC? I'm looking for alternatives to having multiple copies of FG and having to sync 5E.xml everytime (I have a script to do that, but I think that's a messy way to do it).
Looking for any insight on experiences with EC or using even S3 to store FG and run on any machine mapping that resource.
Thank you!

The genuinely accepted "wisdom' is don't try to run FG from Dropbox, S3 or any of the Cloud Services.
Me, I run FG on both my main PC and also my laptop, and I simply use the Free File Sync program to keep my FG/campaigns folder synchronized between the two (via a shared drive on my LAN). others will have other solutions/advice.
Cheers

Thanks Dulux-Oz.. I wasn't leaning towards S3, but running in EC2 anyway.
On a related question - Is it possible to connect to an instance I am running in the cloud with my local copy of FG? I get a license conflict when I do that - is there a way around that other than removing my license in my local copy of FG?

No, a different license key is required for each installation (or run in demo mode). The only exception is when connecting to an instance on the same machine.

Is it just a separate folder for a non-licensed copy of FG?

If you have an ultimate license, you could run your GM instance in EC2 and connect from a local Demo version. Not sure this provides you some great benefit but it works and I have done it in both EC2 and Azure. If you have a VPC though, you need to make sure your networking settings are correct so you can reach the instance on 1802. I assume since you are referring to an EC2 VPC this should be something you can address.
Thanks!

No, because FG uses registry entries so you have to account for that.

Thank you. It's a minor issue honestly. I was just doing this to test running a game in my EC2 instance.
