View Full Version : Measuring on gridless maps?

New user - still checking stuff out and finding my way around. Have been looking at the maps for encounters and trying to work things out. I usually run with gridless maps and just measure movement for example. I found the pointer tool on the map page, but when I turn the grid off, the pointer stops displaying measurements. Is there a way to change this?

No there isn't. For a pointer to measure distance there has to be a FG grid on the map.

And welcome to the FG boards. Make sure you continue to ask questions about anything that confuses you.

That's disappointing. Thanks for the confirmation though.

Without a grid FG doesn't know what scale the image is.

Wonder if there is a way to make an extension that can change the transparency of the grid that FG puts on the map? Would allow for the illusion of a gridless map but still allow FG to understand the grid for distance mapping.

Can't be done with an extension. The grid colour is built into the base map.

Voted up.

I like having the grid, but more options for people is always good.

I voted as well. I've always preferred gridless maps. Much deeper immersion in my opinion.
