Im not looking for anything to play online as much as Id like to use the maps for D&D 5E vs us mapping so we can get more done in a night and use the tokens vs my old 4E ones that slow me down

so I wanted to run the game on a TV I have in my store is it possible for me to log in as a DM and then have one laptop for the players to use to move characters? I can keep the map hidden but the players view can be up on the TV for mapping basically. We still want to roll dice and use our Character Sheets.

Now that said I never get to play and I think Ill also want to do some playing online myself as I think about it as Im typing this, but I just wanted to hear from those using this if its a good fit, it certainly looks spectacular.

Yeah, you can use FG like that for local play. Most have only one computer and two screens. As you can run two instances of FG at the same time on the same computer. One as DM and one as player. But then the DM is moving everything.
If you want the players to use a laptop (not your DM computer) you would need a second license for FG.

Or an ultimate license... (Which would allow players to bring their own laptops and play from there without a license...)

yeah, if I did it, I think Id do ultimate so then players can log in for free on mine as the DM, so if I have 4 players could they all share the laptop for moving or do they have to have their own to log in?

They could all share. Each player client can run multiple characters.

You'll also want to look at this extension (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?33834-Map-resize-to-TV-resolution-for-Face-To-Face-games).

You can also see two similar threads to this topic with more detailed discussion, here (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?25600-Using-FG-at-the-tabletop) and here (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?30464-Using-Fantasy-Grounds-at-the-physical-table-top). There is also a thread (maybe one of the two earlier ones) that have lots of pictures of people using FG in different ways in person.

well im in, I bought the one month 9.99 to try it, and then storm king module, but that wouldnt let me use a lot of the charts for random treasure etc... so I bought the DM guide, MM, and PHB so if I like it enough in a month, Ill upgrade to the one time purchase of the software and ad as I go.

thanks guys,
