I got this issue with two separate characters where I open them in 'manage character' post game to update inventory and such and they're in the same before game state, basically not up to date. I run FG on a mac. Also, I frequently use the '/save' command.

Help!

"/save" is used to save the GM's database. It does not save anything to the player's cache used by "Manage Characters". If your player cache is not saving after you disconnect from the GM's computer, you may have a permissions problem on the folder where the cache is stored.

So, sounds like you created your character in Manage Characters? And then imported into in a game with your GM/host?

Once that import is done, you have effectively made a copy of your character onto your GM's server. You now can not (directly) edit it without being connected your your GM again.

You can go into Manage Characters, go to the campaign version of the character, export it to xml, import it (don't remember if that's to Manage Character or to a local campaign), then edit it. But, then you will either have to export it and send to the GM, or upload it again next time you connect to your GM.

If you still have issues with characters saving, have the DM export the character before you log off the server. Sometimes that helps. I have had several players have intermittent saved character issues and that seemed to help. The last ditch effort is to the DM email you your character.

Just to make sure it's not a misunderstanding.

Characters created in Manage Characters will always remain the same unless edited again in Manage Characters mode.

If you add a character you created in Manage Characters to a game, then a copy of that character is made within the GM campaign data. When you log out of a campaign session, a read only version of the character copy (separate from original) is saved on your player machine. To view the campaign copy, you would select the campaign in the Manage Characters launch screen, instead of the ruleset. Once in Manage Characters mode, you will see two copies of the character; the original editable copy, and the updated read-only campaign copy.
