View Full Version : Sharing music during campaign

Hey all,

I recently got the Ultimate license for FG and have been figuring it out. It's an amazing system. I've been playtesting on my own and probably will start a dungeon crawl with my brother soon before getting into more serious campaign building.

But I've got a question:

Is there any website I can tell my players to go to from where I can control which music it streams for them to listen to, appropriate to the story. Preferably one where I can just add youtube links or deezer songs (I've got Deezer).

I don't know how to do this. Could I use a podcast? Never set one up before. Are there alternatives? What do you guys use?
And it should be free and with minimal fuss. I don't want to force my players to create an account or pay for anything.

Just popping a link in the chatbox for them to click breaks immersion.

Cheers,
D.

Nice. I'll check out out this evening. Thanks.
Btw, if I read the wiki correctly, it should work with the 5e wizards theme, but the windows won't be themed?

I can't remeber - I think they'll look ok, kts just that a few of the icons will be "5E" not "5E Theme".

I haven't looked at it for a while - sorry

Psht. Details. As long as it works, it's fine by me. I'm not planning on giving the players anything to do with this module, so it shouldn't break immersion for them.

edit: and I didn't mean that in an ungrateful way. This looks really interesting.

I haven't noticed anything 'missing' when using this extension from the 5e theme. Mind you I might not be very observant, but on the basis that nothing is sticking out enough for me to notice I think dulux has made it work perfectly well with the 5e theme. It may have been when first launched that there was an issue or two but I suspect hat this is no longer the case.

Additionally, if you're using voice communication you can setup on your computer to send music/SFX you're playing locally through the voice software - playing as background to your gaming voice communications. Some background info in this post here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?21761-Playing-Aids&p=182730&viewfull=1#post182730

In this case, the DOE extension is still useful as it allow you to organise local links to start playing music locally (and send to the voice comms software), but it's not essential - I play background music and SFX in my games all the time and send it through TeamSpeak to the players, but I don't use the DOE Sound extension (sorry Dulux!).

I am shocked - SHOCKED! - and, truth be told, heartbroken :(

Don't worry... Some of us make up for it by using it absolutely EVERY time we play! :)

Thanks. VAC via TeamSpeak sound less complicated. Still, I've got to pay for it.

FG Ultimate took a sizeable chunk out of my gaming money. Alas. Why didn't I discover it before the Steam Summer Sale? Was it eve' on sale?

Anyway, I'll stick with wavelength.fm at the moment. Less hassle.

But once I've run a couple of campaigns I'll certainly check out the DOE stuff. Sound effects sound awesome.

Hey Kreutzkevic! Just to clarify, there is a VAC product (different from the VAC in the thread that showed $25-$50) that is free/donationware that many of us use. The product is called voicemeeter. Take a look at this link. Point being you should be able to set it up and try it for free and when you get some more cash and want to donate you can always go back in and donate to him. I tried voicemeeter for free and once I upgraded to voicemeeter banana I ended up paying for it by donating given I use it so much. Hope this helps.

And there is a community sponsored TeamSpeak server you can use for free; https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?17071-Voicechat!-Community-TeamSpeak3-Server

I use a program called VoiceMeter to mix my Mic, music, and sound effects channels and send that to google hangouts (but you can use any voice / video software). I also use a program called Scene Sound for audio scenes and sound effects in conjunction with VoiceMeter

Thanks, I'm still trying to wrap my head around how to use Fantasy Grounds. I've done alot of Roll20 but I have always been interested in Fantasy Grounds as it looks to be more fully featured.
