Audio and Video

I see that most of you like discord, I have never used it myself as I play with a live group of friends sitting around a table with laptops. However one of our players is moving and still wants to play. Im trying to figure out how this will work. I will need to use discord for the audio I would guess but I think we would still like to have a visual with each other. It did not look like discord would do that. So what do you suggest for video connection?

Hi Devistation,

We use TeamSpeak - I prefer it over Discord - but that's a matter of preference. For those times when we use video we fall back to Skype - not ideal, but it does do the job.

However, we really don't miss seeing each other when we can hear (and read) each other - it sort of help us focus on the characters instead of the players.

But anyway, that's what we use / do - hope that helps

As for video, we use Roll20 actually. FG on one monitor, Roll20 on the other. Video/chat readily integrated, no setup, no hassle. (Also we play a game that uses dice in a way FG doesn't allow us to...so for now, FG is more like my online GM screen and campaign journal thingamagog).

You are correct in that Discord only handles voice and won't help with the video bit. You'll need something like the set up described in that post.

There's also a chance Discord will be adding video chat (https://blog.discordapp.com/year-end-teaser-search-screen-share-video-chat-audit-logs-and-channel-organization-bc1c546c9301) sometime in 2017.
