Add [R:5] to the end of the action or effect on the CT. Or [R:3] or whatever the recharge number should be.

I haven't tested it but I imagine if an NPC has the same wording for an action or trait as for a dragon's breath weapon and it was dragged onto the CT, it would also include this.

The recharge only works for NPCs since they are the only ones who use recharges. So you can't add any wording to an ability or item which will automatically put the recharge on. Unless you create the magic item as an NPC you aren't going to get it to automate. You'll have to roll manually.

I hope you don't mind my resurrecting an old thread, but I stumbled on this thread through a Google search and wanted to post an answer. From another Fantasy Grounds user:

I found the effect. Its buried but if you have a dragon in the combat tracker with a used breath weapon it automatically applies a status effect: "RCHG: X Y" Where X is the d6 roll that the ability will recharge on and Y is the name of the ability. It doesn't apply automatically so the player has to manually apply the effect to themselves when they use the ability but then it automatically rolls the d6 and informs the player when there ability is recharged and then dismisses itself.

So if you want your PC Dragonborns to be able to recharge their breath on a 5 or 6 give them an effect with the following text:

RCHG: 5 Breath Weapon; [SELF]

When they use the ability, have them apply the effect and everything is automatic from there.

I tried it on one of my PCs in FGU and it worked perfectly.
