You pay then download the software and IHMO you are better off ordering the lite version and the DM (full) client together (it saves money). I have found this program to be quite excellent, however I must warn you that the documentation is poor and you will will need to spend a day or two figuring out how to custom the program to your needs. BUT, that being said, it is more powerful a program that what it appears to be at first glance. There are a TON of ways to customize this program from icons, buttons, monster add-ons, rulesets, etc. and I've even found a way to overide screen size limitations, etc. too it simply takes some patience to learn the program.

I think that recent upgrades that are coming, combined with user, forum, and company support makes this program stand out. You should definitely give this program a try. It works great for local games as well as on-line games too.
