I am new to using Fantasy Grounds and run it on my laptop which is a pretty good machine. It has a dual core processor, 4GB of Ram and a decent graphics card. It can run most modern computer games to a decent standard.
I have noticed when running FG that when I have the GM screen open and I roll the dice it rolls perfectly smooth, but when I add in the character sheets it slows down slightly. Now, it only slows a little bit but it is noticable with 4 characters open. I would have thought that a program like FG would not be something that would be taxing on computer resources. I have two discord servers open, Syranscape and a sound processing program. None of which are a big deal.
Now, I am not saying that the computer is stalling or anything like that but is it common of FG to become more sluggish as you add characters in?

Hi, the dirty fecker (what is a fecker and why is it so dirty?)!
Some machines have two video cards, integrated and dedicated. Some laptops default to the integrated as it uses less energy. Fantasy Grounds is a bit old and may not register on the computer as needing dedicated graphics so the system may not be switching you over as it would if you were running Civilization 5 or something. Check the control panel for your graphics card and see if that's the case.
For my laptop I have an Nvidia 965m, so I have to go into the Nvidia control panel and manually add Fantasy Grounds to run on the dedicated (Nvidia 965m) graphics card instead of Intel graphics chip. If I don't do that the dice don't even roll smoothly.
Hopefully this solves your issue, otherwise we'll have to wait for someone more experienced with hardware to offer up some help.
Happy gaming!

Excellent. That makes a lot of sense. I will check that out when I go home and see if it is the case. Thanks :)

Also something to keep in mind is that the current version of FG is single-threaded. The new version being worked on is multi-threaded and probably built more in line with what you are thinking.

Actually, the new version is not multi-threaded. Unity itself is, but it does not give developers the ability to multi thread. I will go find where SW admitted to that limitation.
Here (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?38475-The-road-forward-64-bit-multithreading&p=339575&highlight=thread+%2Bunity#post339575) is where this point is discussed.
