FG License: Just installed free version, but purchasing a licensed copy would not be an issue if needed
Time Zone: Central Time USA
Day(s) of Week: Available any evening of the week with weekends preferred, but not necessary.
Frequency, and Time: Would prefer weekly or bi-weekly, but I will take what I can get. Anything starting 6pm CST is good.
Term: Hoping to be a part of a long running campaign.
Voice:Yes
Video: Yes, if needed

Game System Preferred: D&D 5E
Game System Experience: New to 5E, but not new to RPGs.
Fantasy Grounds Experience: Completely new to it...sorry.

Character Type Preferred: When I used to play AD&D 2E, I enjoyed playing anything that wasn't a thief type or a mage.
About me: I am 45 years old and a long time tabletop and PC gamer. However, the last tabletop RPG I played was AD&D 2E and that was over 20 years ago. My high school and college group members simply got more complex lives and fewer and fewer members were able to game until finally it was over. I would love to find a group along the lines of Critical Role (varying amounts of combat, lots of OOC joking around when appropriate, and varying amounts of role play). I currently spend most of my free time either with my wife and daughter or gaming on my PC (World of Tanks, Civilization VI, HOI4, EU4, Darkest Dungeon, Witcher 3, Arma3 as of late).

I am available and open for an interview if necessary.

Might anyone be able to suggest other forums on which to look for groups?

Hi Longbow,

I am in the same boat. Newbie with no clue. There seem to be 3 of us looking for the same thing.

My post LFG: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?38895-LFG-D-amp-D5E-New-Player-looking-for-introduction-game

Collwyr's post: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?38924-LFG-1-Player-LF-Weeknight-games-monday-sunday-available-GMT-time-zone

Maybe we can get together just to get familiar with FG? Hopefully we would then be better prepared to join a group? Just spit balling ideas here.

Did you find a group? We are looking for a couple of folks to join our campaign. It is homebrew; however, I do not have extensive knowledge of forgotten realms and all the lore, history, and whatnot. The group is currently my brother and me (both 40+) and my cousin who is in college. Let me know if you are interested, and maybe we can chat via discord.

Longbow, Marmus, either of you get into any games yet? I can't promise anything long term but I could probably manage to throw together a 1-2 session intro if you are interested and depending on scheduling.

I'm a DM that is new to Fantasy Grounds and I would be happy to run a game for the three of you. Just let me know what kind of game you are looking for and we can make something work.

Hey Guys , the link below will bring you to our group that is just beginning a 5e campaign.
Feel free to read the various threads. (Don't skimp on this, it's worth the read.)
As a player, you are not commited to any group, game night, or for that matter you can play Monthly or Yearly. (joke)

If you are interested, PM me and I can send you an invite. You don't need the invite to read the threads.

There are 2 Pathfinder games open. Pathfinder is basically identical in play as AD&D 3.5 edition but FAR FAR more expansion and choices. AD&D 5E is based on getting new people interested so it removed depth of content for ease of beginning. Pathfinder stopped making products for AD&D around 3.5 and creating their own offshoot with much simplified rules then AD&D but expanded on depth of content and choices players can make when creating a character. Basically if you can imagine a type of character that is different then out of the box ...pathfinder has a way to build it and play it. This is my basic grasp on the most distinct differences in pathfinder versus AD&D (particularly 5E).

If you would like to check it out ...most people who play pathfinder continue to play it much more. Pathfinder just doesn't have the bankroll that Dungeons & Dragons does to advertise and push their product so its not the hot ticket but it is a game that once tried ...hard for people to accept the restrictions that 5E imposes on character creation/development. If you like making your choices along the way rather then package stuff at each level ....give pathfinder a shot and see if it fits.

Anyhow here is a link to the two games ...

Serpents Skull (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?37122-(Pathfinder)-Serpents-Skull-Campaign-Starting-Sunday-s) Sunday mornings at 9AM Central time (UTC-6)

Hells Rebel's (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?38409-Hells-Rebels-Pathfinder-AP-looking-for-players) Friday evenings at 5pm Central/6pm Eastern

All the info needed is at the above links for each of the games. Give it a try and if its not something you like you can withdraw from the campaign no questions asked. I'm on the Fantasy Grounds Teamspeak server (connection info (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?17071-Voicechat!-Community-TeamSpeak3-Server)) pretty much every day if you care to talk more on the topic or about joining and making a character.
