I had been running FG on older hardware, and bought a new laptop with more than the minimum specs to run my game. When running the FG WebInstall, it constantly fails with the message:

PRODUCT REQUEST
Getting packages from FG server
Starting update check
ERROR - GetProducts: Network: time out
Retrying in 10 seconds

This problem started last night, and based on some other trheads, it might have been a temporary issue, so I waited till morning, but the issue persists. The new PC is over minimum spec, with a 2.5ghz i5, 8GB RAM, and a 1TB HD. It has a fresh install of Windows, patched to the latest update, and I have disabled Windows Firewall and all Antivirus while trying to troubleshoot this. Port 1802 is open through my router, even though for the update I understand it is an http request for an .exe. I did try to ping some IPs found in other threads with the following results:

I have connected with both wireless, and direct wired connection through both router and direct to modem, with the same results. My game is on Sat nights, and am hoping someone who sees this can point me in the right direction soon.

Thank you,
Kholdan

Sooo... after hours of troubleshooting, and trying to work with my ISP, I decided to try using my cell phones internet connection... worked like a charm. By the gods, I hate CenturyLink.

Odd - run a tracert and see where it gets stuck.

Check for connectivity to fantasygrounds.com The Current IP for this is 104.20.131.20 but try pinging both the name and the IP address.

I often change from the ISP provided DNS over to 8.8.8.8 for my DNS Server.

Yeah, I just over-rode the ISP one on the router, and the router just hands those out with DHCP. So I only had to change it one place...
