Any DM's willing to hop on voice, and briefly discuss the basics of running a game via fantasy grounds.

I have ran several sessions on FG, and have been running PnP since 2nd ed adv, but i am having trouble with transitions to new locations; this leads to a break in the flow of the game, which i would like to avoid.

Ultimately, i just need more practice, but if anyone can offer some tips, it would be appreciated.

Hi jackbling,

Just some quick thoughts I wanted to throw out there, hope they help!

Make sure to have the Grid and Mask layers setup before the game.
Resize the maps so they fit on-screen before sharing them to players.
Pre-share the maps you will need for the next session to avoid the dreaded loading screen.
Use Encounters and pre-place any tokens whenever possible.
Create Encounters for random encounters ahead of time.
You can drag maps to the Hot Keys bar along the bottom for quick access.
Create as many Effect as possible before the game: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/5E_Effects

A big help, if you have an area mapped out with a larger encompassing map, is you can drop links on images. So you can have a layout of an area: city, dungeon, forest, what have you. And can drop links to local area map, combat encounters, treasure, story, characters, etc linked right on that larger map. If I am doing a thorough prep for say a city or dungeon, that is what I will do. Cities will get: images, NPCs, encounters, shops if you are using that extension, etc.
