My DM purchased the Pathfinder advanced players guide and although there is an entry for Races none f the races appear when you click on the Races link(for him or the connected clients). Is this because they are not included or does it suggest the mod didn't load completely or something? He's tried forcing an update several times.

I don't have the APG, but I'm guessing this is due to the "Races" entry in the APG not being base races, but alternative racial traits only. See here: https://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/advancedPlayersGuide/advancedRaces.html

Hence why you won't see anything in the Races campaign data list for this module. The base race data is in the Pathfinder Core Rules.

The original HC APG has advanced races. Is there a reason they are not included in the FG version?

The original HC APG has advanced races.
I'm sorry, but it doesn't. Chapter 1 "Races" has alternative racial abilities for Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, Halflings and Humans. All of these Race have their base stats detailed in the Core rulebook. See a screenshot of the APG contents below.

What advanced races do you think are in the Advanced Player's Guide? Are you sure you're not getting confused with the Advanced Race Guide, which has Aasimars, Catflok, Dhampirs, etc.?
