View Full Version : The current FG percentile dice thrower does not work properly!

Percentile dice throws do not work properly. When you pick the % option on a D10 and it produces two dice for you to throw it works fine until you roll 60+10 for example. If I were rolling that in real life it would be 60. instead FG adds them together and gives an answer of 70.

There is no zero value on the single die. This is a serious oversight. How come nobody has not noticed this before?

This is the way it's always done it. You still get 1 -100. You're not losing anything. It is just a different d100 convention that the original designers were familiar with, compared to what you're familiar with. Some background info here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?8354-d100-percentile-die-convention

That makes no sense. Tell me how it is supposed to calculate 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, or 90?

The way it works at the moment if you roll a 10 (like you would on a real set of dice) ie. a 10 and a 0, it adds it up to be 20. Rolling a 10 is impossible in the current system!

No, if you roll a 00 and a 10, that adds up to 10.

Nope, it isn't impossible. The 10's dice have 00, 10, 20... 90. So 10 is 00+10, 1 is 00+1. As I said above, you still get 1-100 - otherwise, yes, someone would have noticed this before. :)

It's just a different way of thinking of it. As the thread I linked above shows, there are some gamers who are used to this process (approx a quarter based off the poll). Admittedly, it's not the one I use in face-to-face games, but it's the one FG uses and it does result in the full 1-100 range. If it bugs you too much, don't look at the rolling dice, just look at the total displayed in the chat window. ;)

The first dice can roll '00' and if the second rolls 10 then you'll get 10. If both dice roll 10 then you'll get 20 etc

Some examples if it helps...

[00, 1] = 1
[00, 2] = 2
[00, 10] = 10
[10, 10] = 20
[20, 10] = 30
[60, 5] = 65
[90, 9] = 99
[90, 10] = 100

Oh... OK it is a bit strange but I see what you mean. I have never seen it done like that before.
