Check out my Saturday night one shot games. I love getting new players in there and teaching them the ropes.

The basic D&D ruleset is freely downloadable from the Wizards site here (https://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules).

People looking to get players and groups for a Fantasy Grounds based game can be found in the LFG - Looking for Group (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?40-LFG-Looking-for-Group) folder.

Additionally, I would encourage you to find your your Friendly Local Gaming Store that sells D&D products. These places usually run local face-to-face games of different varieties, and you might be able to find some direct instruction from local patrons there. These stores usually have cork boards where people can pin up advertisements for different games that are local to you.

I'm a big fan of doing both face to face as well as remote gaming through Fantasy Grounds. I will say that using Fantasy Grounds for D&D has become my preferred way of play, and I use Fantasy Grounds for running my D&D games even if we are face to face.

Anyway, don't be overwhelmed and don't sweat the details! Getting in to playing is really simple and straightforward. The first step is really just being able to find that group that fits you.
